MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia’s Federation Tower East, a skyscraper located in the Moscow International Business Center, colloquially known as Moscow City, has become the tallest building in Europe, rising above two other buildings in Moscow City which previously held the title of Europe’s tallest building: OKO Apartment Tower and Mercury City Tower.

Still under construction, Federation Tower East has reached a height of 343 meters.

“We have reached this height precisely within the scheduled terms, at a pace of three stores a month,” Mikhail Smirnov, the Director General of the “Federation Tower” project said in a press release.

According to Smirnov, the tower is set to be completed and glazed by the end of this year. Next year, it is set to become fully operational.

Federation Tower is a complex featuring two towers built on one podium. Tower East is set to be a 97-storey structure, 373.7 meters in height. Tower West was completed in 2008; it is a 65-storey building which is 242.4 meters in height.

The complex will accommodate offices, hotel suites and apartments.

Currently, the 61st floor of Tower West houses the highest restaurant in Moscow.

The building is actively used as a sightseeing platform and the high-rise has been used by extreme sports lovers (base jumpers, climbers, etc.).

Before Federation Tower East rose above its neighbors, the tallest building in Europe was the nearby OKO Apartment Tower complex, which is 351.8 meters in height.

In 2012, Europe’s tallest building was Mercury City Tower, another Moscow City office building which topped out at 339 meters, overtaking The Shard, a 87-story skyscraper in London which is 309.6 meters in height.

In addition to Federation Tower East, the OKO Apartment Tower, and Mercury City Tower, Moscow City is home to four other buildings that are among the tallest in Europe: the Eurasia tower, City of Capitals: Moscow Tower, Naberezhnaya Tower C, and Triumph Palace. Together, they represent seven out of eight of Europe’s tallest buildings, along with London’s Shard.

Jeez.....So almost all the main contractors in these projects are american, German and even Turkish?:cheesy::o:
Russia sure has alot of catching up to do in many sectors, more than i even thought. They focus too much on their oil/Gas and military sector.
Kudos to the Turkish, they have sure developed an advanced construction industry.
I was shocked to read recently that Turkey is now the worlds second largest international contractors, second only to China. I couldnt believe it, and has to read it at least 5 times and do some more research to confirm it. Kudos to the Turks.

Turkey second place on the list of top international contractors - GİLA BENMAYOR

Are u sure?
"The complex, designed by the German firm NPS Tchoban Voss, is being developed by Mirax Construction and is owned by the Mirax Group. The construction company for the East Tower is the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, while the construction company for the West Tower is Turkish Ant Yapi. The Italian Company Busi Impianti SpA is the contractor for the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Systems of the East Tower."

we prefer turks over westerners since they are cheaper and now also more reliable du eto sanctions treats from the west. If turkey and UK are so great in constructing and designeing why are they all below russia? Russia only builds skycrapers since 15 years but federation and mercury tower had russian design and construction and are some of the biggest. In 20 years we will build all 100% russian. Turkey has huge trade deficit with us so of course we have to give something to eat to them.

america this america that, what resources are all your skyscrapers made off? Its from siberia ohh great all your skycrapers are russian lol. Idiotic logic you have. It doesnt matter who built it it matters where they stand now. Hence your freedom statute was made by french

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frédéric_Auguste_Bartholdi

If a country prospers and you can see it on the projects, do people will emigrate and start moving to these countries. Americans engineering skycrapers in other countries is not a sign of strength but of weakness as you country has no opportunity to them anymore. Soon all your great bearues will move out to china and asia.

Do u even understand how stupid that sentence is?

Yep thats how trade deficit works
whats so stupid about? You have 4% growth all the time but are unable to build higher buildings than we do despite having supposed to have a great construction bussiness in comparison to russia. Whats turkey holding off building something higher than what we have?

Wow it just got even more stupid, what kind of logic is that?
Do higher buildings generate more revenue or something, they are only prestige nothing more.Or can u explain what the economic benefits of a skyscraper is?

Because Turkey or Europe are driven by economy and not by a game of who has the biggest phallus.
Do u think people see this list and start to tremble infront of russias might :disagree:

yes they do, this is what americans did since 100 years showing their new yorker skycrapers and cement the image of endless opportunities in comparison to europe, the sky is the limit.

This propaganda is subconscious and is a long process, i know a lot of germans even today who dream about moving to the US, the first thing you ask what they would like to see is new york.

. .
lol, our people live like shit and we have low quality of life, salary, life expectancy but its OK we got big fucking towers. You Russians act more and more like Americans every fucking day, the exact same type of people just on different parts of the world, the cold war was just a pissing contest between 2 angry siblings and bullshit like this is the same as guys with small cocks getting big cars, frankly I and I imagine 90% of the world would rather live in a city that does not have huge towers everywhere as they are fucking hideous.

My city has one tower that is just over 100 metres, the rest are about 80, and thats a good mix, the rest of the city has lots of parkland and historical buildings and thats why its such a nice place to live. When I think of cities with skyscrapers it makes me think of hell, living surrounded by giant concrete and glass penises in the sky.

Its why cities like Nizhny Novgorod are far more appealing to any human beings eye than any of the other Russian skyscraper laden cities, skyscrapers = destruction of beauty.
