why post photos when you have a movie?

i don't think i've ever seen or heard about the guy getting crushed in the media (western media), this probably a lie/rumor from your state run news if anything.

from what I remember the guy is a unknown brave guy standing in the way of a column of tanks, and is never identify so it's mysterious.

The photo is very popular in West media news during past twenty years, that's the way how to fool ppl in west nations and today it still work in mass media.

you just said the western media has been portraying the guy was crushed by a tank. if you can back this up with proof that would be nice.

Yes, I don't remember anybody saying he got crushed. You can see he got pulled away at the end quite clearly.

this one has sound

i know. pretty sure there has been a documentary about this incident. think the guy was taken to be questioned, probably tortured and put in prison or worse.

or maybe i'm just jumping to conclusions like the Chinese thread starter  with no evidence to back up my statment

thread really should be closed :agree:

Off course the west spreads only false propaganda about China, we would much rather hear God's honest truth from Chinese govement itself. SO?

Perhaps Chinese can tell us then, As per their Omniscient government, who was this man, what was his name, what happened to him, where is he now ?

I myself used to trust the Western media more than media in my country Vietnam, or China, or CCCP, ... in early 1990s. But after I grown up, travelled and lived around the world, I've developed my distrust against any so-called "free media". I feel they will publish any news that readers want to read, even if this is totally false, for money. Therefore, the quality of "free media" is now below than that of state media in general.

Even in my country Vietnam, many used-to-be-respected state media now publish mostly trash news, just to satisfy and attract more readers.

The first sign of enlightenment starts with the understanding that Western media is not to be trusted.

He and all the cameramen were part of an elaborate Western conspiracy concocted by the CIA months in advance. They were expecting the Chinese to send a tank column and he was ready.

LOL Western media caught lying red-handed again...

That is all they can do against China after we spanked USA into a bloody pulp in 1950.

Please find an article from a major Western news outlet that says "Tank Man" was squished by a tank.

We are all waiting......if you can't find one you will have to admit it was the Chinese media that has lied to you saying we believe he was run over.

That's the beauty of mass media manipulation. You never outright lies, because that will just get you caught and destroy your credibility.

What media does is implications and half truths. For example, if you see this:

Where would you predict the x3 point will be? The answer is that you don't really know because you don't know the pattern behind it, but subconsciously you are going to do a linear extrapolation on it.

Anyone who actually liked China to succeed understand what a joke the supposed 1989 event is. USSR and all the other countries that transition to "democracy" in the past two decades has already made ample demonstration of how idiotic that is.

You have to understand in US, the majority of the people are not too bright. they are too concerned with religion and china threat. The bright people are the ones working to feed garbage to the dumb people.

I have been listening to conservative talks radio in US. The US presidential election is really all about opinion. Opinion on economy, opinion on religion, opinion on foreign relationship, etc, but at the end of the day, the thing that makes me the most uncomfortable is that for all the talk about opinions, there is very little concrete evidence of each candidates' ability to run the country.

Basically, electoral democracy's leadership selection boils down to "the one that can sway the most people to his/her opinion" instead of "the one who can figure out the correct action and implement it". It is understandable, because finding out a person's ability to government would require lengthy analysis of the individual's past records, the circumstances associated with the records, not to mention the individual has to be occupying a post that allow him/her to demonstrate it in the first place. Ordinary voters have neither the expertise nor the time to figure all these out. So instead people focuses on opinions and which ones pleases them the most.

To me, that is a recipe for disaster. I consider myself to be fairly well-educated and better informed than the average voter, but I have no illusion of my ability to judge a person's ability to run a political office and certainly doesn't have the resource to thoroughly investigate each candidate. Granted, in well established societies, the average candidate presented can be expected to have a certain level of competency, but when you are competing with other countries for the top spot, you don't want the guy that "meet the minimal requirement", what you need is "the best of the best".
