Sea Trials of INS Vikramaditya Can Be Postponed

We should have learned from China. and should have purchased a junk in the name of some private owner. then towed it to our dock and refurbished it to make a Casino.:D

That is a tedious task, considering making an A/C is impossible when the design is been made by someone else. Deciphering all that and making it a perfect one is next to impossible. An A/C is not just a floating tanker, its much much more than that.

It was originally designed in the late 1960's/ early 70's (and hence the reference by the uploader on picasa) and is designated PU (ZIF-121) PK-2 complex. It is used to fire countermeasures. A more modern version is used on our Talwars!

Decoy launcher to protect the carrier from anti-ship missiles. Its PK-2/ZIF-121.

These rockets are designed to protect medium displacement ships from guided weapons at medium and long ranges by setting up decoy targets to confuse the guidance systems and distract the missiles attacking the ship. The rockets are launched from the ZIF-121 turret launcher with two open launch tubes.

- TSP-47 radar decoy rocket;
- TST-47 IR decoy rocket;
- TSO-47 combined optical-visual decoy rocket;
- TSTV-47 TV decoy rocket;
- TSR-47 enhanced effect radar decoy rocket.

F16 is correct abt RUSSIA screwing india over vikramditya. $2.7 billion is IMO 50% too much for a meduim sized rufurb carrier...

AND THE DELAYS too.

THANKFULLY F16 the indians are now building the next carrier themselves in indian shipyards so has not to be fleeced.

ALSO thanks to vikramditya SAGA the russians lost the $17 billion dollar MMRCA contract to France and the $6 billion dollar contract to USA for transport planes ie C141 globemasters and C130J ...

I REPEAT TO F16 and others VIKRAMDITYA SAGA cost russia $23 billion in contracts for MMRCA and new gen transports.

SO WHO MESSED UP BIG TIME ?????????

IMO it is India's fault as our Navy did not do a complete study before getting into a contract. They underestimated everything, I read somewhere that the requirements or the modifications required a complete relaying of all the cables of the ship which added a lot of cost and man hours to the project.. Imagine the kind of cable relaying work on a BIG Ac like Vikramaditya..

no doubt, India & IN are frustrated by the delays caused by Russia on the AC vikramaditya, but if we see in the long term it will not effect India as much as it will effect Russia itself, because of this unprofessional attitude of the Russians, there will be lesser arms contract given to Russia not just by India but also by other countries, India will be tempted to purchase arms from the US just by seeing there good professionalism while exhibiting arms contracts for eg: the hercules contract (which were delivered before time!).

Although, there is no doubt that Russia cannot be replaced easily since SSN & other high tech. can be given only by Russia to India.

Who is Indu?

Combination of being an Indian and Hindu.

As for the ACC hope we get it at the end of the year without any delays. And the work on the IAC-1 should also be fast.

Any Idea if the ACC will come with its air wing already on board?
