What's new

Sea Harriers To Rafales, is History Repeating It'self !

There you go:
US Marines AV-8A had a massive 37.5/100,000 hrs crash rate for AV-8A (similar aircraft to IN Harrier 1)
Spanish Navy crash rate for Harriers was 18/100,000.

At the time of decommissioning, Indian Navy chief announced that IN Harrier fleet flew 88,000 hrs between 1983-2015 which means accident rate (17 accidents) was 19/100,000 hrs.

How come you have lost all voice and sources when it comes to the raw number of pilots and harriers operating in the USAF, USN and RAF, compared to those in IAF?

Don't ignore it, answer it.

Tejas that refuses to fly, Submarine that is out of commission due to the damage for over a year ..... someone’s prayers are working.....!!!

Waiting for Apache crash .... Indians love to do that with new aircrafts .... they crashed Mirage 2000, C130 , Hawk , Su30 ..... come on Indians practice Apache crash soon.
Crashing is part of their training regime.

Lemon bhi hai. Coconut bhi hai. Bas pani aur cheeni la kai koi achi si drink bhi bana laitai hain
Baniya hai na.
Refreshment stall lagane laga hai.
Guests ko drink bana bana kar bechney laga hai.
Rafael ki keemat bhi poori karni hai ke nahin.

.
Now I know why their planes crash..............religious infighting

This is a customary norm and is done with all new acquisitions where prayers are held by the religious priests of Hindu/Muslim/Sikh and Christian faiths

Please do not bring in facts to these feel good threads. it just spoils the party mood.

This is how India accepted the first Sea Harrier for the Indian Navy, at British Aerospace Factory , Dunsfold, UK in 1983. Blessings ceremony was carried out by the Naval Adviser's wife. The Hindu religious ritual of worship, 'aarati, was conducted followed by smashing of a coconut on the aircraft hangar floor. The IN acquired 30 Sea Harriers and in due course, crashed 17 Harriers all in routine missions. - which was more than half of the total inventory.
The remaining 11 were decommissioned in 2016.

And now this.....well......good luck. But maybe it's the Indian pilots who need such blessings.

Only fact remaining is the raw number of Sea Harriers operated by US and UK compared to India.

Crash rate is not dependent on numbers in service. Crash rate of a type is calculated based on the number of crashes per 100,000 or per 10,000 flying hours

For example: If Jordan operates 40 F-16s and the fleet has 2 crashes in 60,000 flying hours in 10 years.
Then crash rate is 0.33 per 10,000 flying hours

Similarly if a country operates 180 F-16s with 200,000 hours and 12 crashes, their crash rate is higher at 0.6/10,000.

BTW US and UK had more than 300 Harrier crashes since inception

PAF acquired 40 F-16s, Crashed 9.
IN acquired 28 or 30 Harriers ? and crashed 17.

PAF F-16's downed several enemy aircrafts and took part in strike missions. How many aircrafts did Harriers shoot down ?

Comparing apples with oranges to feel good ? Doesnt work that way mate.

I don't like this underestimation by all of you. Dial it down a little
Harriers had a lot of potential, i think IN destroyed that potential.

They done same with Twin engine Jaguars.
Crashed something like 55 aircraft again without once firing in anger.
