Hi dear cirr,was that a scramjet engine powered missile in the video?I must confess that i couldnt understand anything in the video however I was amazed to see them testing their engine on a missile platform. I am interested to know how they handled the instability issues in the combustion chamber?How did they sustain the burning for longer duration?Most importantly how long was the scramjet engine turned on during flight?
On a related note,DRDO and ISRO have their own scramjet engine programs,Infact DRDO's scramjet engine was first trial tested back in '11-'12 for 20s operation. Next month,ISRO will be testing their scramjet based rocket.

Still China aims to field, among other things, a Mach 7 cruise missile around 2020.

Wasn't there a successful test flight of a hypersonic plane, which landed back safely?

If memory serves right, there are many venues in which this tech is be explored/different stages of development/deployment and R&D is continuing.

Applications are many, not just defensive needs.

We need to accelerate the induction of ramjet engine missile into service operation because the our Swedish buddy just put their meteor missile into service this year. PL-15 need to enter service as soon as possible!
