Actually Mullahs are the biggest enemy of Iran's progress in Science and Intellectualism.They are now suffering from a very high rate of brain drain mainly because "tight domestic job market" and "strict social codes" imposed by the Islamic government.

Iran is now a developed country in Medical science, Nuclear activities, Aerospace, Military industry, Oil and Gas industry and so on. Of course we are not developed in many other fields.
The major problem is how to bring the science into the market and use it in industry, which is caused by mismanagement.
