SBP RELEASES DATA ON PAKISTAN’S EXTERNAL, DOMESTIC DEBTS

Yeah unlike kids like you , I lived through those eras and experienced first hand. Were excellent times.
Obviously, fulfilling the interests of the Uncle Sam gave excellent temporary times for the ruling elites. I have personally observed Zia and Musharraf's era. Unquestionable decade long tenures with overwhelming desires to rule another 10 years, lefts this unfortunate nation with irreparable damage. Just try to live in areas like Quetta, Karachi, Northern Hills for your bread and butter among the commoners or "JAHIL AWAM"...If you are Punjabi, you will realize the gravity of the situation in few days.

Instead of CPEC, imagine we asked China to consolidate all this debt (and our internal debts) in return for (1) interest-frozen annual payments and (2) automatically winning every infrastructure and power, telecom, etc contract for the next 50 years. We'll even let China tell us where we need infrastructure and how much. @SQ8 @JamD

Great idea, except what will Pakistan offer China in return that serves its national interests sufficiently to make such an offer justifiable?

@FOOLS_NIGHTMARE is like the neighbourhood khala……

standing Behind the curtain and looking and waiting for the bad news from any house to spread in the entire neighbourhood…… even if she had to twist, manipulate and lie 😂😂😂😂

The figures are not bad.

The rupee devaluation is the reason why external debt jumped, in dollars there is not much change.

Our internal debt has decreased.

Debt to GDP ratio is at 83.5% (GDP figure at the end of last year). Overall is coming down each year.

Pakistan would probably need to find ways to dilute US containment policies in the Pacific. However, that would necessitate China-style belligerency in Afghanistan and the Middle East (i.e., create a reason for the US to focus on us), like interfering with the KSA and UAE in Yemen, projecting power through our navy (e.g., SSBNs), and taking hardline pro-China stances on issues. We never were a real ally for the Chinese, so we'd basically have to be that for them to justify that type of offer. Unfortunately, we don't have the stomach for it.

Exactly my point. We may even have the stomach for the actions, but certainly not for the inevitable reactions.

No.
It was like 10% of national budget or less.
Debt accumulation happens due to politicians deciding to take expensive loans with high interest rates. Of course they get kickbacks.
Military general doesn't do that.
Musharraf era was similar, national debt decreased instead of increasing.
Then came NRO, if only that mental midget Musharraf had a spine.

Fixed

Hedge against strait of Malacca being blocked and/or South China Sea in the firing line of US Pacific fleet.

What is the maximum potential throughput capacity offered by this "hedge" against what is needed?

So, how's Balochi or Pushtoon racism against Punjabi is related to military rule?
They didn't allow Punjabi living in their areas before military rule or after .
It's their own ethnic supremacist mentality which makes them think of the Punjabi as inferior race and have no regard for Punjabi life, honour or anything.
Plenty of Punjabi trying to make a living in Quetta had similar horror stories.
Yet they themselves are overflowing in Punjabi majority areas , such as Lahore.
Thats how things are and unrelated to military rule.

Not only Punjabis are bullied. When I was in college back in 1990s, our Kashmiri class-fellows were telling us how Kashmiri students in Quetta were made to abandon their studies and move to a college in Punjab or Karachi.

Did the Saudi's not pump Billions ?
Didnt the Us also pump Billions ?

Whenever the smell of Dollars is in the air, up pops a general to "save" Pakistan.
When the smell fades the Generals arrange an acceptable "Democratically elected" face to deal with the IMF WB Aid agencies ADB etc
The world knows who is charge behind the chair
Aaaand the US run by the elected politicians.

Hinko is spoken by Jadoon, Tanoli , Karlaal tribes and many among Awan tribe.
None of those are of Punjabi origins.
They speak a Punjabi dialect
if someone is racist you think they'll care about their origins or what not? - I highly doubt it

and Punjabi origin itself is weird term- cause Punjab itself is so diverse in its origins and is a melting pot

They don't.
And that's the dilemma of people from Hazara division.
It's a deprived area of KPK on ethnic grounds.
No consultation was done with people or representatives of Hazara for changing name from Sarhad to KPK.
When people protested, thousand strong police contingent from mardan , a pushtoon area, decended on Abbottabad and killed many protestor.

Thier are Pashtun tribes in Punjab should we name Punjab "border" just to appease those people and not name the province after majority of it's inhabitants

The hindko being "repressed" I don't buy it as I have seen hindko people thriving in every diaspora cammunity,.who are educated - unlike a lot of genuinely oppressed people...

tbf it's better if a native KP guy answer this @ziaulislam

But I personally call bs and rona dhona as they seemed the farthest off from what it means.to be oppressed
