Saudia buys 100 new Airbus, Boeing aircraft
Tuesday, 05 May 2015

JEDDAH — The board of Saudi Arabian Airlines will purchase 100 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing in line with its five year plan from 2015-2020.

Saudi Arabian Airlines Director General Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said recently the plan is meant to strengthen operational efficiency as part of the continuous modernization of the fleet.

Previously Saudia ordered 90 state-of-the-art aircraft from Boeing and Airbus and all but 12 of them have not been delivered, according to local media sources.

Growing domestic passenger requirements and the expansion of the airline’s international operations make this purchase necessary.

The five-year strategic plan includes the empowerment of the airline staffs and the modernization of airline infrastructures and strategic units.

The potentials and resources of the company were also taken into consideration as Jasser stated that “the completion of the airline’s privatization process” was also included.

At the board meeting, it was voiced that the plan will yield positive results because it was prepared in collaboration with a specialized international consultancy firm.

The board noted that one of the challenges facing the company is the disruptions of its operations by sandstorms. Airlines have been obliged to delay or postpone their scheduled flights when airports are hit by it due to passenger and aircraft safety.

Many airports are affected by it in Saudi Arabia. Measures to reduce the effect of weather changes were discussed by the board.

Sulaiman Al-Humaidan, president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, also the chairman of Saudi Arabian Airlines, chaired the meeting. — SG/Agencies

My experience of Saudi Airlines was superb. In fact my experience of Saudi Arabia was awesome except for 2 things: The desicration of the Al-Harem - the clock tower, the Hilton, the shopping malls and the other 5 star hotels are inside the Al-Harem and nothing should be above the minarets. The clock tower is an abomination, If I had it my way I would develop a major green belt around the Al-Harem with palm trees and water features such as small oasis etc. All the hotels should be at the edge of the green belt and all much below the minerats, All rooms and the service provided should be one class, 5 class for each and every pilgrim regardless of colour, creed, wealth, name country, sex. All men enter the house of God as equal men, wearing unsewn cloths around us. Then why have this major difference in class for hotel and service.

Anyway Saudi Airline - clean, efficient, friendly and good food, pity we did not get upgraded on the way back and the 777 was full to the rafters.

Luckily your doubt doesn't matter!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yeah, I know but I have my own opinion about a fanatic airline .

It may be 2015, but one airline reportedly has plans to gender separate their passengers completely. Due to religious and modesty regulations, the airline plans to “enforce” separation, according to a spokesman for the company.

The airline in question is Saudi Arabia’s national airline, Saudia as reported on the RTwebsite. Saudia wants to separate male and female air travellers, mainly due to complaints from husbands who don’t like unknown men sitting next to their wives.

Saudia assistant manager for marketing Abdul Rahman Al Fahd told reporters, “There are solutions to this problem…we will soon enforce rules that will satisfy all passengers.”

As such, the airline hopes to begin arranging for check-in staff at the airport to assign separate seating for their passengers, unless they are closely related.

As widely reported, it isn’t just Muslims who have these modesty issues as Orthodox Jews also have similar laws calling for the separation of men and women in public.

Back in September, an El AL flight from New York to Israel’s Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport was delayed because some orthodox male flyers refused to sit next to women.

But while these religious practices are all fine for some people, they are not suitable for others, and certainly not on a public place like an airplane, where flight crews are constantly working against the clock to ensure their aircraft takes off on time.

It terms of the FAA’s rules for this type of crew disruption, Federal Aviation Regulations 91.11, 121.580 and 135.120 state that “no person may assault, threaten, intimidate, or interfere with a crewmember in the performance of the crewmember’s duties aboard an aircraft being operated.”

It therefore remains to be seen what course of action will be taken by Saudia airlines, and if plans to separate people based on gender is even legal, not to mention the logistical and ethical nightmare.

SAUDIA DENIES SEGREGATION REPORT
SAUDIA has denied a press report carried by the social media that it was going to introduce gender segregation on its flights.

“We would like to emphasize that no SAUDIA official has made any statement on gender segregation,” said an informed source at the airline.

Referring to the statement issued by Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Fahd, VP Marketing, on December 30, 2014, the source said it was a reply given by him through his personal Twitter account to one of his Twitter followers.

That individual had pointed out that the issue of seat arrangement for families required solution as his flight delayed 15 minutes because of it.

In reply to that Mr. Al-Fahd said: “We have introduced some solutions this week and we are awaiting its result.” Some Arab and foreign media websites to wrongly interpreted this reply to report that SAUDIA was planning segregation.

It is worth mentioning that the airline’s website allow families to select nearby seats for their members while booking. Some passengers may not get this facility if they did not select seats or made late reservations.

“This may result in family members not getting seats away from one another,” the source said, adding that cabin crewmembers try their best to solve such problems quickly without causing flight delays.

Will you stop posting lies here or are you one of those fools that swallow anything that is written on the internet without doing any critical thinking or research? Apparently so.

Saudia is one of the most busy airlines in the world with enormous potential. Moreover located in one of the biggest aviation hubs in the world, the GCC, that has some of the most luxury airlines/high quality airlines in the world.

Another thing, Saudi Airlines is one of the most punctual airlines on the planet. In fact number 6.

And the world's most punctual airline is ... - CNN.com

A quote from that article from CNN above;

"Smaller operations again took the lead, with Latvia's airBaltic outperforming all others at 94.9%. Second and third were Hawaiian Airlines at 92.3% and Austrian Airlines at 90%.

The rest of the top 10 includes: Iberia (89.7%), KLM (89.4%), Saudi Arabian Airlines (89.4%), SAS (89.1%), Japan Airlines (88.8%), Finnair (88.6) and Alaska Airlines (88.5%)."

Anyway great news @Indus Falcon

Religion is a business. You think some arrogant Pakistani origin Doctor who practices in the US is going to want to be opposite rooms to a beggar from Bangladesh?

I've seen hundreds of lying, cheating, arrogant a$$holes who go on Umrah or Hajj and then brag about it for a couple of weeks then go back to being lying, cheating, arrogant a$$holes. Then they repeat the process next year and next and next..... And you've seen this too.
