India - The Land Of Hearts: Jallikattu - It is Not a Game It is a Battle
History
It is an ancient Tamil sports. There are evidences about this sports in ancient Tamil (Sangam Period) literature Exact term in Tamil is ‘Yeru Thaluvudal' (hugging the bull). The kings, chieftains, landlords and other commons will choose their bridegroom during jallikatu. Their bulls are allowed to counter the competing youths. The successful tamer would get to marry the maiden. It is also interesting to note the evidences from district gazetteer of Madurai district and according to the evidences the jallikatu has been around for over 400 years.
Its obvious that BJP colludes with PETA to destroy Tamil culture, btw original people of India wouldn't be speaking Hindi or Sanskrit derived language.
You need to research Mopla, hard for fake occupiers, the by products of marauding invaders to grasp etymology nuances
There's a difference of opinion on the exact origin of the word "Mappila" ("Moplah" in Colonial sources). By and large it is considered to be derived from a combination of ancient
Tamil or
Malayalam language words
maham ("great") or
mam ("mother")
[5] and
pillai ("son").
[6][7]Some people believe that Mappila means "Son-in-Law" as the Muslim visitors often married local women and thus became son-in-laws. (Tamil Mappilai = Son in law).
