Saudi Arabia and Israel have no formal diplomatic ties and hostility dating back to the 1970s.

Something you don't see in Israel is a Saudia Airlines plane, with full markings such as this one. A plane arrived for routine maintanace in Tel Aviv causing the airline to cancel its contract with a Portuguese firm. Photo Courtesy of wikimedia.org/ K. Fielding.

TEL AVIV, Israel, May 11 (UPI) -- An off-duty Saudi Arabian Airlines plane was seen receiving routine maintenance at an Israeli airport, causing the airline to cancel its contract with a Portuguese firm.
The airline, known as Saudia, said Hi Fly, a company leasing planes to the airline, landed the plane, with prominent Saudia markings, at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, a violation of its contract. Saudi Arabia has no official relationship with Israel, and has led the Arab boycott against Israel since the 1970s.

The plane, an Airbus A330, was serviced at the airport last week by Bedek, an Israeli company contracted by Israeli Aircraft industries, whose spokesman said "ongoing and routine maintenance" was among the services provided at the airport.

A Saudi plane arriving in Israel was a novelty noticed by Israeli media.

"Such landing or operation process should take place in a country that shares diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enable Saudia staff and the Civil Aviation authority to conduct inspection and follow up on the maintenance operation at any time,"the Saudi newspaper Arab News reported, quoting the contract.

its a 02 days old news and i have few questions in my mind, is it possible to install some kind of Micro chip to alter planes's navigation system when its desired or to blow it up when required?.

I think same reservations are in the mind of Saudi authorities.

Lol. It's a 250 million dollar plane. Nobody's blowing it up for landing at the wrong airport. Most certainly not a responsible state. Somebody earlier mentioned a mandatory IQ test before letting people loose on the internet. I concur!

If the plane is the one in the picture, it's a 737 which has a price of less than $100 million even before discount.

500 Pakistanis would die in a crash before landing in Israel. Saudis have no principles.

Dear Saudi brothers,

money can never buy class or respect.

Stupid Pakistanis like you.......

Also, learn to read a little sometimes....It went there without passengers for routine maintenance....

WOW :mad::mad::mad:............You need to be admitted to psychic ward.

he should be in the same plane as those 500 pakistanis.....

It's a matter of Saudi ego, that's all what this is about. If they had any security concerns then, why even use American military hardware, knowing that if Israel wanted to sabotage anything they could have easily accomplished that via Americans.

I beg to differ. That is not a 737 my friend. The plane in the picture is an A330. One can tell by the Rolls-Royce Trent engines. A 737's engines would have the iconic hamster pouches, which are clearly missing here. Also the plane is clearly an Airbus and not a Boeing as is evident from the slants of the cockpit glass windows.

you're damn right !

I just looked at the engines and they looked flattened at the bottom, so I thought it's definitely a 737, maybe a 900...They're not flattened, just shade or something...Plus the nose looked slightly different from a 737.
