and read about it in the morning paper...

You say that when Muslims die, noone cares.
I suggest You check who were the victims of the lorry attack in Nice.
Then You would know, You are wrong.

News coverage is based on relations as well.
A newspaper tend to have journalists where many stories are generated,
which are of general interest to their audience.
There are very few editors that would rather send a journalist to London,
over sending a journalist to Kabul.
If you have a journalist somewhere, they will produce material.
