Saudi Arabia to work on Make in India programme

Saudi Arabia, a country which India identifies as a strategic partner in the region, is hopeful of expanding all-round ties with New Delhi and hopes to work in the Make in India programme that aims to boost manufacturing capacity in the country.

With nearly 3 million Indians working there and granted an unprecedented 1.2 million visas last year, Saudi Arabia is seeking to expand cooperation with India in areas including trade that rose from $26 billion in 2010 to $49 billion last year, Saudi Arabia Ambassador Saud Mohammed Alsati told The Tribune

At a time when the Narendra Modi government has launched the Make in India campaign, the Saudi envoy said visits were organised under the aegis of the Saudi-India Business Chambers with a group of businesspersons taking part in a dialogue on trade and investment opportunities in India last month. Nearly 100 Saudi and Indian businessmen and investors were present at the Make in India event launch and the Indian Mission in Riyadh last September.

The essential source of national stability is the understanding between the House of Saud and Wahhabi clerics. There are tensions in the relationship. Many Wahhabis now view the royals with some disdain, seeing them as corrupted and secularised rulers with too close a relationship to the West. In the past, the clerics were appeased by being allowed to spread their version of Islam abroad as long as they did not cause trouble at home.

It would be pertinent for you to understand that unlike Pakistan & Iran there exists a very large non Muslim population in India which is in a majority.

The Govt in New delhi is the strongest one we have had in decades watched over by a hawk - the RSS.

None of these ( & more) bulwarks will permit things to get out of hand so it shall be strictly business.

Well the west takes saudi money without adverse consequences. India is not of course as powerful as the west, so we would need to be very very careful in dealing with them.

Money good, cultural exports not needed.

Anyway India is for sure going to be very best buddies with Iran ( chabahar port and all)

I think for the average Indian most people like Iranians, we have Parsis over here who are very much part of our society. Saudi not so much, we really can't understand their value system.

they have no habbit making of mazaray... our leadership is highly crupt i tell you this cuz of them we cant get Pakistani people in arab easily other wise Arab respect Pakistanies more than their arab brother.. its just matter of engagment how to deal with them .. you cant treat them like west cuz west just give a fly F if they are not getting profit from you..
I have no doubt that Arabs are our friends its on us and show them that we are not desperate as our Pakistani leadership represent Pakistani people.

Our culture has potential of handling Wahabism and make them fall in line. India has a huge population of Muslims. How many Muslims did you see joining ISIS or involved in terrorist activity. People have tried their best to use Indian Muslims but failed measurably.

If there is any culture which can deradicalize Wahabis, It is Indian.
