KSA despite its previous claims of downing Yemeni drones using this Chinese made point defense laser system, has not disclosed any evidence to back their words. Not a single footage of interception has been released so far unlike Yemenis who have already shown attack on KSA's fighter jets using modified missiles. Thus, i doubt its true capabilities. Given that this weapon is of new technologies developed by just a few countries, it still is in testing phase. Saudi Arabia can be called the most desperate country on the planet earth which has to clutch at straws hence buying weapons from all around the world and every seller can pawn off their untested asstes on them. And the Chinese are of no exception.
Yemen is currently using variants of Shahed drones to inflict damage on petro dollar assets in Saudi Arabia, also Yemeni drones have proved the uselessness of western made air defense systems.
Even if we assume this laser defense system of Chinese could deter those drones despite no evidence of it, Yemen can develop a countermeasure to it. The French made HELMA-P which uses similar technology has a range of almost 1 KM to hit the incoming targets such as drones. This Chinese made system is claimed to have 4 KM range at max. At this range it cannot down Yemeni drones. So the actual range must be similar to French made laser weapon. Yemen produces cost effective drones so this Chinese made system can be easily overwhelmed by saturation attack and Yemenis can take them out on the ground.
KSA has to show us an evidence before making tall claims.
