Saudi Arabia deploys 30,000 soldiers to border with Iraq

@al-Hasani

Its silly to blame Maliki. He's a stupid nutbag trying hard to cling unto power.

Beef up your defenses, deploy Apaches, Special ops, UAVs and Tornados. Coop with the Jordanians and lavishly use Cluster munitions.

Bro, on this matter and dozens of others I think that it would be unfair NOT to criticize him for the reasons I mentioned. He deliberately endangers neighboring countries, his own population and makes ISIS gain more foothold in the region. This cannot be any wise tactical move. Does he really expect US to deal with this mess in the ME again while they are busy countering China? He is desperate and playing on several horses right now. USA, Russia, Iran, the Arab world etc.

He wants to appear as a strongman but in reality he is a school boy in a suit now acting like the big commander in chief.

I simply do not understand how he is still in power after all those problems and humiliations.

. .
ISIS, is inside Jordan.
They just aren't as lucky as they are in Iraq since the ordinary Jordanian has no weaponry, in Iraq every home has assault rifles.

Jordanians have a very strong Security apparatus. ISIS won't find a foorhold there.

I just wish that all Arab states had the guts to rise up and kill this threat indide Iraq before it expands.

.
Saudi seems to have more firepower than the rest of the region combined.

If any ISIS militants try crossing the border, they will end up being blasted to pieces.

My friend it's not about this. Actions like those just endanger the region due to personal vendettas. This move makes no sense tactically.

I don't want my people to die in a fight that is not ours. We will deal with any threat towards KSA and the holy lands but that's another discussion altogether.
I simply consider Al-Maliki as a highly incompetent "statesman". Well, that is a insult to the word statesman.

That's very correct. Jordan are doing very well on that front. Yet it's also one of the most vulnerable countries due to location, poverty and the millions of migrants living in Jordan. I have said it before and I will say it again here. It's remarkable that major problems have not happened before in Jordan since the "Arab Spring".

3 reason why they will go in Jordan easier than KSA.

1) Jordan is smaller in terms of territory, population and military.

2) Jordan has a strong anti-Shia population.

3) Jordan has the largest foreign fighters in Syria.

4) ISIS would choose Jordan over KSA for tactical reason, they can enter Southern Syria (Damascus, Daraa etc to fight their sahwat/Assad) anytime they want once they gain upper hand in North Jordan.

KSA doesn't neighbour with Syria.

You are underestimating Jordan here. The Jordanian security apparatus and military are very strong compared to its size, economic situation etc. Also loyal.

The Jordanian military have been continuously praised by very capable militaries when conducting drills, military exercises.

It's bordering two war-torn countries (Syria & Iraq) together with a limited economy and millions of migrants that can potentially stir trouble up. ISIS might take advantage of that or other anti-regime groups. MB included.

Lebanon is more prone to trouble.

@al-Hasani

Just pray that our war against ISIS's cousin's succeeds. If we are successful in killing a few thousand TTP pigs, we'd have a breather. Then we can lend a hand to you guys if its needed. We combined can muster effective firepower in a campaign. We don't need the Americans if we work together.

Maliki failed terribly, everything he does seems further add fuel the sectarian bloodshed. I'm not sure if he is doing it intentionally or not, but it doesn't matter when the results are clear to see.

Do you think it is better for Iraq to remain somewhat united, or be divided into three states (Sunni, Shia and Kurdistan), since that seems to be the way it's going now?

How will either outcome impact the interests of Saudi and the GCC?

Cooperation between Muslim nations is urgently needed. It's time to stand up on our own and deal with our own problems. Foreign interference has not helped in any way other than giving people a excuse to rise up against the regimes in the region etc. The Muslim world is powerful enough. A country like Pakistan for instance with one of the most powerful militaries out there and a population of 200 million people should project power outside of its borders and should be dealing with any trouble out there.

Same with other of the main Muslim powers. It's time to cooperate more. It's needed. I hope we one day will see something like the EU at least in the ME.

The GCC should also cooperate much more with Pakistan as we are almost neighbors. You live just across the Arabian Sea. I hope that our people (our streets basically) will have a bigger say in our countries decision makings.

But of course I am dreaming as we cannot do this it seems.

Lebanon is getting VBCI and Caesar artillery from France from the Saudi-Leb-France deal, you can read it.

Yes, but you know how that country is divided into sects, political parties. I mean Southern Lebanon is basically a country within the country. But of course this will help. It's just that Lebanon was always the problem child in the Arab world. People always "made fun" if other countries in our region were more unstable than Lebanon.

I blame many of the problems on the "Islamic" revolution in 1979 in a certain country and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

It's the political scene that is a mess in Iraq but Maliki is not helping. I am critical of him because some of his wrongdoings are simply too embarrassing and I simply do not understand why he has not corrected them. Especially those fake bomb detectors make my blood boil.

It is better to be one country I believe but this is something the people should find out. The Kurds are already autonomous but they are trying to steal land which they should not do as people are against this.

Don't know actually?! A stable Iraq would be good for business but since the region is on fire I see no changes for the upcoming years.

If we assume that Iraq would be divided into 3 states (Kurd, Shia, Sunni) then I could easily see the Sunni parts of Iraq merge with areas in Syria and have close relations with other Sunni Arab countries in the region.

The South would be located between KSA, Kuwait and Iran and probably under big Iranian influence.

But all this is speculation. I do not know what is going to happen.

Pakistan has lent a hand every time we have been asked for by our Arab friends, including the recent crisis with the Huthis.

Pakistan maintains an unannounced presence of troops in KSA, mainly to carry out training and to look after the Strategic Command (Conventional Ballistic Missiles).

We Pakistanis don't believe in Unilateralism, however if the need again be, we won't be playing the spectators.

I saw some of this, good info. He mentions how Iraq's political system os based on sectarianism, no wonder why problems like that will occur when the system is based on it.

I don't see division except for some Kurdish areas, but something more like Lebanon. We need to get rid of the current system to get rid of it.

Pakistan is the main Muslim military power and if you were a stable country there would be no reason to why you could not play an active role in Muslim affairs across the Muslim world but my philosophy is always that one should put his own house in order first. As all Muslim countries have some problems of a significant size we should first try to solve them before asking for help. I have nothing against cooperation. I mean we as Arabs have always traded with the entire world nearly. It's just that I would hate to see some countries trying to help others while having problems themselves.

For instance I am not against donations by KSA but since there are also problems in KSA I would like to see them solved first. After that donations are very welcome.

This is off-topic anyway.
