Saudi Arabia bans access to Turkish state media

The Saudi Arabian government has banned access to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency and broadcaster TRT’s Arabic website, Anadolu Agency reported on Monday.

Users face a message that reads, “This website violates the rules of the Information Ministry,” when they try to log on, AA said. No official statement has been released on the matter.

The ban came after a social media campaign by “trolls and fake Twitter accounts known as electronic flies” against Turkish media, AA said.

A Turkish court last week accepted an indictment seeking life sentences for 20 suspects over the killing of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The suspects, including the former deputy chief of Saudi Arabia’s intelligence service Ahmed al-Asiri and ex-royal adviser Saud al-Qahtani, are to face charges of “premeditated murder with monstrous intent,” as per Turkish law.

Turkey’s relationship with Saudi Arabia has seen heightened tension over the Khashoggi killing, which took place in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and the two countries’ disagreement over regional politics, including in Libya and Yemen. Most recently, Turkey has accused Saudi Arabia of failing to act responsibly in the coronavirus pandemic as thousands of pilgrims visited the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

Absolutely nobody in KSA reads Turkish "media" (read Erdogan controlled media) or cares about it the slightest. On a global scale it is absolutely unimportant as well with just 1 Arab news channel (Al-Jazeera) alone having a much larger audience and influence worldwide.

Secondly news reporting about KSA from Turkish media (read Erdogan controlled media) belongs in the dustbin as 99.99% of the time it is propaganda and not worth wasting your time with.

After the Islamic conquest we Arabs created the largest (by far) and most influential empires EVER (stands to this date) created by non-Westerners (in the form of much more recent colonial empires, the British being the largest), expect for the incredibly short-lived and destructive Mongol empire, in the Muslim/non-Western world. It was under those Arab Caliphates/empires, that the height of Islamic civilization was reached and where the Islamic world was the leading player in almost every field. Arabic, the liturgic language of Islam, is the most influential language (by far) in the Muslim world too, influencing languages on all continents of the world and every single language spoken in the Muslim world to a greater or smaller degree.

To this very day, despite 3-4 centuries of Ottoman darkness and colonial exploration of much of the Arab world, we still stand strong, despite being at our weakest point. We still control a landmass the size of Russia, our lands are some of the most richest and sought after on the planet and so is our geographical location, hence the constant meddling from almost everyone else. We are still by far the largest Muslim ethnic group (second largest in the World overall) and our combined economy is in the top 5 of the world which incredible potential for future growth due to unused potential, population growth etc.

Some 25% is not a "huge chunk" nor are those 25% Saudi Arabians. They are temporary inhabitants with the exception of Palestinians and other Arab communities (that make up the vast majority of the expat community in KSA).

I can assure you that nobody in the entire Arab world, expect for MB inclined Arabs, care or read Turkish "media". They simply don't care and Turkish media is insignificant on a global scale even compared to 1 Arab news channel (Al-Jazeera).

However you can continue your Arabized Uthman "legacy" and agenda here. It probably only works on a Pakistani forum hence the large Turkish community here. I understand.

I don't know any Arab who hates another Arab country. Qatar is Arabian land and the 350.000 or so Qataris are all originally from Najd in KSA, including the ruling family, with the rest (minority) being from elsewhere in the Arab world.

MB is a 100 year political movement that originated in Egypt. What it has dwarfed into today (mostly highly incompetent individuals that failed politically everywhere in the Arab world, now bankrolled by the current Qatari Emir and Erdogan) has no relationship to what it once was or eventually will be in the future.

I might like or dislike Al-Jazeera, it is of no relevance to what I wrote of it alone dwarfing Turkish media as a whole.

Well compared to the cradle of civilization that is the Arab world (home to the oldest, most numerous and most influential ancient civilizations) it is indeed a giant joke. Even compared to past Arab Caliphates (Rashidun, Umayyad, Abbasid, Famitid etc.) they are lightyears away be it militarily, culturally, scientifically, in terms of influence, even though the Uthman's emerged much later and thus should have had a head start.

There is a reason why the Ottomans were greatly influenced by Arabs and Arab civilization (other foreign civilizations too) and not the other way around and why the sole Ottoman legacy in the Arab world can be reduced to a few renovated mosques or military garrisons.

I don't see why Arabs should respect an entity, even though it was Arabized, that gave nothing good to the Arab world.

What is funny is that secular Kemalists are turning into Neo-Ottomans in the Arab world all while they don't want to implement such a policy in Turkey itself.

Long before the Ottomans existed, half of Anatolia was ruled by Arabs for centuries. Even in BC times Arab kingdoms (Kingdom of Osrone) ruled parts of modern-day Turkey and millennia before that much of Anatolia was ruled by Semitic empires that originated in the Arab world.

Even when the Arab world is at its weakest in history (after 350 years of Uthman darkness in half of the Arab world) and colonialism, our landmass, resources, economy, potential is literally lightyears ahead of Turkey. KSA alone has a larger economy and our GDP per capita is many times bigger.

Maybe hate is too strong word but the way how saudis/emiratis speak on twitter give an expression like qatar is their erstwhile 1000 years old enemy maybe you don’t hate qatar but certainly your gcc brothers do at least that’s the logical assumption when you read their words
Regarding anatolia and arabs it’s better not to talk the same thing because it’s irrelevant in the eyes of the world anatolia is associated with turks
Also you can’t say that turks are arabized and claim at the same time that you suffered because these two things EXCLUDE EACH OTHER

Definitely KSA is in top 3 countries regarding resources yet so far it’s mostly oil-based country which is frankly speaking unsustainable for the long term-especially if your population is rising exponentially
Whether you will achieve independence from oil and be industry based economy we will see this is in the future so far you are still heavily reliant on oil
