Sorry, I have to intervene as I hate people saying things that are in my knowledge area but is wrong. Arabs didn't convert Turks. You are probably going to say battle of Talas, which was against Chinese and many Turkish tribes switched to arabs side in the war.

Turks converted slowly in centuries into Islam as they got moved to the middle east from influence in the area.

The Turks that moved to middle east converted to Islam, most who was in around modern day Ukraine/Russia converted to Christianity. Its all about proximity to different regions and influence.

There is no difference between Othman or British colonization , the only difference was that Turks used religion to justify their rule , just like how Roman Catholic church justified ruling over most of Europe.

Arabian peninsula was only developed after Arabs kicked Turkish occupiers out , as for Palestine the Turks sold it to the Jews before WW1 , Jewish colonization started in 1800s .
