Two sensational goals from Manvir Singh and an incisive header from super-sub Sumeet Passi helped the defending champions India storm past their arch-rivals Pakistan 3-1 in the semi-finals to secure passage into the finals of the SAFF Suzuki Cup in Bangladesh on Wednesday.

India were the favorites coming into this fixture courtesy of their outstanding run of form. The Men in Blue outclassed Sri Lanka 2-0 in their fixture, followed by a 2-0 rout of minnows Maldives that saw them top their group with maximum points.

In india, every sport is respected and supported equally but in Pakistan only cricket is respected with all of state support and focus. Not even a single football match broadcasted in Pakistan, rather they were preferring some local cricket tournaments. So expecting anything extra on international stage from Pakistan in sport other than cricket is like living in a denial mode.

Hopefully there is a culture change in the wider region. Nobody outside South Asia cares about cricket honestly. Even in countries such as England and Australia it is far from the most popular sport. Heck in England it ranks as 15th in terms of the sport which people participate in (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2017/02/15/popular-sport-england/cricket/). When India or Pakistan win the World Cup or Champions Trophy in cricket nobody really cares lol. On the other hand just even participating in the FIFA World Cup ensures billions of people watch you.

On topic well done to India. Pakistan has just returned from a long FIFA ban as well so will take some time before even basic funding and organization returns to the sport in our country. However I am hopeful. India meanwhile are the favourites to win the tournament no doubt.

India sent it's third string team to this championship and still reached the final unbeaten. Shows how much we have improved.

We sent our U23 team, yet reach finals.
