Sachin Tendulkar’s wax statue unveiled at SCG

Sydney: Sachin Tendulkar`s wax statue has been unveiled at his favourite Sydney Cricket Ground before being displayed at a museum in the city on Saturday ahead of his 40th birthday on April 24.

Tendulkar`s waxwork was unveiled at the SCG where he had played some memorable innings, courtesy Madame Tussauds in Sydney, media reports said.

Later on Saturday, his waxwork, expected to be a replica of the one in Madame Tussauds in London, will be displayed in the museum at scenic Darling Harbour, near the Sydney Aquarium alongside those of Donald Bradman and Shane Warne.

The expected display of Tendulkar`s wax statue alongside those of Bradman and Warne is significant as he had posed with the two legends during a 1998 trip to Bradman`s residence in Adelaide to wish the great Australian batsman on his 90th birthday.

Swami Army, the group of Indian supporters which was formed in India`s tour of Australia in 2003, was present at the SCG for the unveiling.

Tendulkar has scored three Test hundreds at the SCG including a 241 not out in 2004 - his best Test score then.

Wierd thing is, his statue is made to wear T20 WC jersey which was held in Lanka whereas he has never featured in any of those tournaments.

Tendulkar is short but defintely a strong guy especially his biceps and lower arms.
