Saab Aeronáutica Montagens (SAM), Saab's first aerostructures plant outside Sweden, start of production of aerostructures (tail cone, front fuselage for the single seat, aerodynamic brakes, rear fuselage, wing box and front fuselage for the dual seat) of the Saab Gripen air frame for the Força Aerea Brasileira FAB, Brazilian Air Force.

At Saab Aeronáutica Montagens in the southern part of São Paulo, sections of the Gripen will be built and delivered for the final assembly of the fighter at the Embraer factory in Gavião Peixoto (SP) and in Linköping, Sweden.
