SA VS W.INDIES

I have a feeling that WI will be all out before 200.

Storm of gayle once in a blue moon is againt countries like zimbabe. His average in previous 25 matches were 18 lol

Why all matches between top teams are one sided match so far..the only close matches were matches played between associate teams i.e afghan vs scotland or ireland vs zimbabewe or uae vs ireland

If SA defeat pakistan then does it mean Pakistan are out?

No. If Pakistan beats all minnows they should go through.

However NRR will come into play and it all depends on how convincingly Pakistan win against minnows. Ajmal has said recently they would have to win by 100 run margins at least to make sure.

Yes for sure! btw mistakenly I rated your post:rofl:

You could have kept your ratings.

That's why I said SA massive victory is bad news for Pakistan. WI already won over you guys so technically they are safe. But Pakistan will have to face Proteas. Ireland look tough and the Zimbabweans have given a tough fight. If Ireland wins three matches then it will be alarm bells for Pakistan IF they lose to South Africa.

Ireland narrowly won against UAE. They play SA and Zimbabwe next and they could lose both.

As long as Pak beat the minnows by a decent margin they will go through regardless of what happens in SA game.

Ireland may lose to SA but against Zimbabwe they have a realistic chance. And if Pakistan really needs 100 run margin of victory then they better not lose against SA. Because both Ireland and Zimbabwe are putting up a tough fight. The only easy minnow here are the UAE team.

You are right it really is touch and go. Pak has to work hard on their NRR however if they beat Ireland it comes down to head to head, is that correct?

Eventually 2 among WI, Ireland, Pak( all 3 will win 3 matches IMO) will go to next level. Todays massive defeat of WI just brought them in negative runrate while Ireland is just above zero. So technically all 3 are pretty much in game.

Each team plays 6 matches. Pakistan played two and lost both, both by a heavy margin. The main scare for Pakistan is not Ireland but SA. If they lose to SA then Pakistan is in deep deep trouble. If SA had lost today they had a reason to feel safe.

Next is Ireland, if Ireland wins against Zimbabwe and if Pakistan lose to SA then everything will come down to net run rate. And Pakistan is at the bottom of the NRR table. They will have to win against SA at any cost if they want to escape from NRR trap. But if they lose then Pakistan will have to win their rest 3 matches by a VERY big margin. Simple victory will not be enough.

  • If there are teams with equal points and equal wins in the Pool matches then in such case the team with the higher net run rate in the Pool matches will be placed in the higher position (refer to 21.10.5 below for the calculation of net run rate).
  • If two or more teams are still equal, they will be ordered according to the head to head matches played between them (points then net run rate in those matches).

Pakistan should win remain four matches is the way to QF even if they loss against SA with narrow margin there is still chances ( a lot of Ifs )
If Pakistan loses to Ireland, that's the end of it. So, battle against Ireland will decide it's fate.
If Ireland loses to Zimbabwe and Pakistan, then Pakistan will be in Quarters.
If Ireland register wins against Zimbabwe and UAE and loses to Pakistan, then Net Run Rate comes into picture as WI, PAK, IRE will end up with same number of points.
India vs IL also very important for Pakistan, beat them like SA beat WI:grin:
