S Korea-China Booming Trade to Illustrate Strategic Threat to US

But in electronics, it's taken a firm lead. Japan's former electronics giants are being mercilessly dispatched by Samsung, and they have no tech advantage anymore.

Is that a joke ? Where do you think Samsung gets critical upper-stream components such as lithography machine, photoresist, silicon ingot, liquid crystal etc from ? Mind you Korea isn't capable of manufacturing any of those stuff.

It aint matter as long as the end products still sell and the companies are making profit out of it:pleasantry:

Taiwan seems to be doomed, I agree. For US, looks like a win, but, again, we can't overrule the possibility of SK further squeezing US electronics (especially mobile) in Chinese market. High end will probably stay intact in the US but volume will move to SK.

How exactly SK is going to "squeezing" US electronics ? Samsung phone still use American OS(Android) and RF chip(Broadcom), they still need to pay royalties to Qualcomm for every phone they sold.

. .
With historical conflicts aside, China and Japan make better trading partners than Korea. Besides some political concessions gained by China, overall korean views of Chinese will not change in the foreseeable future.

Samsung is already feeling the hot breath from Xiaomi, so in the smartphone arena Chinese brands will surely overtake the Koreans. Just take a look at the Mainland market share and see for yourself, we have plenty Chinese brands offering bang for buck quality phones able to compete with Apple and Samsung midrange to top models.

While SK has overtaken Japanese electronics, they are struggling with their automobile industry against the well established Japanese car brands. As for China, it cannot compete in the gasoline cars arena but we have companies who are at the front in electronic cars industry. Also from the photos posted by our Chinese members here i'm quite impressed with the SUV models.

In some fields China may be behind SK/JP/US, but we are catching up quite fast so give it some time we shall see :D
Last but not least TW is pretty much a joke, anti China locals will only speedup the demise of the island.
I think Huawei would be Samsung's biggest challenger as they are making mobile devices with their own chip and do not need to depend on third party supplier.

None.

Korea import these high end machine tools mainly from Japan as they are not in the tier of major industrial nations. The US, China, as well as EU(Germany and Netheland) also provide a small portion of these tools.

The Japanese has the option of not to sell these machinery and tools
Why sell them and then grudge over their loss of market shares to some S Korean consumer products? :dirol:

No.

First, Japan needs the export to support economy.
Secondly, Japan has to maintain global value and supply chain.

Grudge or not, you need do what you should do. That's a mature nation does. That won't chage Korea is a less significant country. As Japanese take light of Korea, that won't change the possibility, with this China Korea FTA, of Korea overtaking Japan in GDP per capital, nor Korea considered a industrialized nation.

That is exactly the point that I said and your answer to it
Japan has to sell and S Korea can buy what it wants for its various consumer productions
Even if Japan doesnt sell, other countries can.

Regardless of what you said about S Korea of not being industrialised, this is a description of where S Korea stands,
Developed country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

whether you like it or not S Korea is considered as an industrialised nation. Within industrialised countries, per capita income varies. Whether it will overtake Japan's per captia income, just time will tell.

Profitability is one of the most important performance indicators to measure whether business and industrial ventures are successful. If S Korea can sell and make good profits out of its cellphones well who cares about the fact that it doesnt make the machines/tools that help make the cellphones now :dirol:

Swaying with "wiki-Developed country" and "who cares" words won't make you an expert, only a keyboard warrior.

In my field only the countries who makes machine tools are considered as industried nations. Korea,or Saudi, never ońe of them.

End of the discussion. We are clearly not on the same page.

You are just being ridiculous!
Check the links to the wiki page and tell me which one is not reliable.
What is "your field"?
Again, you said "in your field"'s definition is pure insane! 8-)
