Russia priest calls on militants to 'fight against fascist scum'

This footage shows a Russian orthodox priest blessing a group of Russian-backed militants before they go off to fight Ukrainian forces in eastern Ukraine.

The Russian Orthodox Church has suspended this priest, Vladimir Zaytsev, who comes from the Russian city of Yekaterinburg until Easter because his actions contradicted the church.

The Russian Orthodox priest gave this blessing to the militants: "Fight against the fascist scum if needed, and I think it will be necessary. Don't be afraid of anything."

The Russian Orthodox has not publicly supported Russia's support of militants in eastern Ukraine although it has been a partner with the Kremlin during Vladimir Putin's rule of the country.

Putin's presidency has been described by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church as a 'miracle of God.'

The Russian Orthodox Church is an idiot. Ukrainians slaughter people of Russian orthodox and what is it supposed to do, sit there and get slaughtered? I swear to God this is the most stupid religion in the whole wide world.

Church and state do not belong, and any priest that encourages killing is a disgrace and obviously not qualified for the job.

Today, one Orthodox priest from the Odessa region was sentenced to 4 years for what he called people do not follow Kiev junta.

Oleksandr Drabinko (C), metropolitan of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and the late Kyiv Metropolitan Volodymyr Sabodan’s former right-hand man, confirmed to the Kyiv Post on March 30 that he had taken a trip to help Ukrainian troops in the war zone last week – the first such visit by a Moscow Patriarchate bishop.
