The 9M100 is a short-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) developed by the Fakel Design Bureau, part of Almaz-Antey concern, for new air defenses that should be in place within Russia by 2015. The 9M100 is a short-range missile featuring infrared (IR) guidance. It is 2.5m long, has a 125mm diameter body, and weighs 3,073kg.The 9M100 guidance system combines an inertial navigation system (INS) along with an infrared seeker and a combined contact and proximity fuze which ignites the warhead. Such a guidance system means that the 9M100 missile is a fire-and-forget weapon capable of engaging multiple targets simultaneously. The solid propellant rocket motor features thrust vectoring control providing outstanding maneuverability. It is used as both a surface-to-air missile and an air-to-air missile, and has a maximum range of 10km. Poliment-Redut is derived from the land-based Vityaz air defense system, with which 9m100 is associated.

It weighs 3073 Kg and the range is 10KM??
S300 48N6E2 weights 1800Kg and the range is 190 Km.

Cant understand why such huge difference. I understand that lift off will need more thrust and more fuel so not comparing it with an air to air missile like AIM-120C that weights 150Kg with range of 120Km appx. However such large difference when compared to S300 is a bit strange!

I have check it on multiple sources and interestingly i found that it is not a misplaced comma.

The weight actually is above 3000 Kg on many pages and the range is 10 KM. In fact another missile from same family the 9M96E / 9M96M, originally meant for the S-400 missile system, is a dual-role, self-defense and IR-guided missile. It measures 4.75m in length and 333kg in weight. It has a body diameter of 240mm and wing span of 480mm.Range----40Km

So it is quite strange that for a missile with 10Km range it weights more then three ton, specially considering that it DO NOT carries a huge warhead compared to others that can be accounted for this increase in weight. May be different technology, fuel,, something!!
These things are not so significant so i have not been able to find any explanation.
