Russian Expert: Liaoning-Test Platform, Vikramaditya-Fully operable combat capable

You deceive noone but yourself.

CATOBAR was last operated by India over 35 years ago. On a WW2 era aircraft carrier using a 1960s generation jet fighter. Any pilot still alive would be over 60 years old and probably not been flying for years and years.

Not sure if those experience is of any use today.

Indian Navy AC pilots gets training from US as well as Russia .

Imagine if Vikramaditya meets Liaoning the way home?:nhl_checking:
I think thats Mine avtaar :p:

The same would apply to the Mig-29.

Let people who think a 45,000 tonne carrier will be more capable than a near 70,000 tonne carrier keep believing this.
According to the Sina Military Network, that has (weirdly) criticized the Flyng Shark calling it a “flopping fish”, the recent tests with heavy weapons have limited the attack range of the J-15 to a distance of 120 kilometers from the carrier: whilst it is said to be capable to carry 12 tons of weapons, when the aircraft is fully loaded with fuel, it can’t carry more than 2 tons of missiles and munitions, meaning that only two YJ-83K anti-ship missiles and two PL-8 air-to-air missiles could be carried (in an anti-ship configuration).

The Aviationist » No match for a U.S. Hornet: “China’s Navy J-15 more a flopping fish than a flying shark” Chinese media say

You can't say the same to Mig 29K which can carry 5500 load from STOBAR configration

Well this Aircraft carrier that 'looks' like its been built by amateurs has conducted over 778 flights trials with 88 landings :cheesy:

It has sailed 1,700 miles under India command with more than 1000 Indian sailors on board.

It can / will carry 24 Mig 29K and 10 Helicopters i.e. a total of 34 Aircrafts :D ...... In case you are wondering IN has already ordered for 45 mig 29K capable of AC operations.

Reality is Liaoning comes nowhere near Viki's capabilities. That is just the cold hard reality. Now let his information soak in.

China has been testing and training non stop since we inducted the carrier, now we can successfully launch three J-15s at the same time.

We can also carry more by simply the fact ours is bigger.

As to capability? It's a carrier not a destroyer, it's not suppose to be alone or go into combat, what capability other than carry fighters, and supplies? Any other functions are purely non essential and won't factor much in a battle.

Having said that, the J-15 is not suited for this carrier, it's way too heavy. If we are to battle right now we lose, that much is certain. The MIG 29 is better suited for these Russian relics.

However, it's been observed that the J-15 is actually better suited to be catapult launched and thus indicates that the Chinese navy is looking to get at least one fully operational catapult carrier in the near future.

This would allow the J-15 to have full weapon and fuel load and make it a far superior fighter to the Mig29, for the fact that the J-15 is a heavy fighter and could accommodate more missiles and systems.

@HariPrasad

Su-35? Sure, we have been negotiating for those for a LONG time, it makes the Rafael deal seem like a reasonable amount of time.

Also as I said above, the J-15 is from many indicators not built for Liaoning and needs Catapult launch, so, more is to come.

@sancho

I would say that's fair of J-15, comparable to J-11. But the way I heard it the Russians chose the MIG-29 is because they can't afford or at least don't have the American catapult launch super carriers now or in the near future, so a lighter fighter is needed.

@bloo

Canadians? They are always on American super carriers, even the retired Kitty Hawk is most likely better than the Chinese Indian carriers by a lot, not to mention those that came after.

As to J-15, I mentioned above the reason why it is "Junk."

Liaoning can't go into rough weather? A fishing ship can go into rough weather, I think what they meant is we can't launch fighters in extreme weather yet, or at least have no experience in it, or public experience anyways.

Doing it along? You really want to go into it with us the Chinese on doing things along? Besides Brazilians have experience we don't.

Is newton an idiot because he didn't invent the numbering system?

Liaoning will be protected by our new destroyers and submarines to go with our new frigates and corvettes. I don't think it can be attacked by anyone other than the US head on, and also the Russians.

Well what about everyone else, they seem to be saying the same thing, so unfortunately the joke's on you and your tincan.:coffee:

Chinese aircraft carrier fails to make a splash with Canadian military officials

A good plannar radar is better than a bad AESA radar any day.

Having fun trolling? Well you won't when the Barak will be installed, besides Liaoning can't even go into rough seas or unclear weather. LOL what does it even need airdefense for no one will need to attack that worthless tincan.

Still loads better than the J-15.
You can say that after the Brazilians were training your pilots.Why can't China do it alone?

But the Canadian press should not even comment. They have ww2 submarines purchased from the UK, retrofitted cargo boats with guns and call it destroyers. Until a few years ago, they were using the old Sea King helicopters. On top of that, they have Peter McKay as Defense minister. Yes, the dude that has never served in the military as their defense minister.

What does that have to do with anything?
It is an independent research done by a country who have more experience in handling aircraft carriers than China, so I think that gives them more than enough credibility to comment on a defunct "test ship".
Besides there are two more sources including US who say the same, so enjoy reading them.

The one has nothing to do with the other, since neither the Flanker, nor the Mig could be operated via catapults and they already operated Flankers from their carriers, so could have upgraded them to Su35 level too. That however would had been a comprehensive and costly upgrade, for fighters with not that much life left. The Mig instead is a fast and cost-effective stopgap until naval Pak Fas will arrive and since IN operates them even in higher numbers, their future upgrades should be secured too, which is another advantage for Russia navy.

Is N-Pak-FA officially planned ???

From Russian side yes, Sukhoi CEO stated earlier that they would like India to team up for that as well and suggested even HAL to take over the re-design. Sounds good, but the aim is the same as for the Migs, they want to have our funds for re-design and future upgrades, since Russian budget alone would be limited and the order for Russian navy alone would be small too.

Its just a rumor ,chinese have already denied it on several occasion .
Why they buy a Su-35 when they already working on J-31 and J-20 they just need engine and thats what they are looking now from russia.

Currently they are negotiating for Su 35.

and by the time they get it will be obsolete :lol: 117S is old news, when the Type 30 engine being developed for the PAK FA is ready, it be superior to Pratt Whitney F-119 in terms of trust & fuel consumption and comparable to F-135. It will make everything in China or Europe look like a bad joke, and were not stopping there work has already began on the 6th generation fighter and all its subsystems including a 6th generation engine:D
