YEKATERINBURG, August 22 (RIA Novosti) – Russia's consumer rights protection agency Rospotrebnadzor in Sverdlovsk Region found a chemical agent, capable of causing allergies and functional changes in the nervous system, in Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey whiskey.
“The final results of laboratory tests have revealed the presence of benzyl ether of benzoic acid in Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey [liqueur] spirit, which has sensitization properties, causes allergic reactions, could provoke functional changes in central and peripheral nervous system and is widely used as an acaricidal [anti-mite] agent,” the consumer rights watchdog said in a statement Thursday.
