What's new

Russian Army Contingent arrived in Pakistan to participate in Pak-Russia Joint Exercise Druzhba-III

On a lighter note, russkies still seem a little stiff about the thrashing we gave them in the past.

Bringing down Soviets by Pakistan is one of the greatest achievements in the history of warfare.

They just left us no option other than to break soveit union due to their role in 1971 war. It was just revenge.

Soviets made great sacrifices to defend India but paid the ultimate price when Pakistan got back at them in Afghanistan.

Lesson Learnt: Don't under estimate the power of Pakistan. Even US is unable to confront Pakistan as we speak.

Literally one of the dumbest statements ever. The Soviets only lost about 10,000 soldiers in Afghanistan, controlled most major cities and won most battles. Read up on Perestroika and Gorbachev to know why the Soviet Union desolved.

If you think Pakistanis roll in Afghanistan was one of the "greatest achievements in the history of warfare" then you don't know squat about warfare. It's an insult to history to even claim that, Pakistan didn't do much more other then up training camps and supply routes for rebels. What an achievement, it puts Stalingrad and Kursk to shame.

I really do not want to argue with you as mother Russia has always been kind to India and Indians.

Having said that your pride may not accept it but Pakistan was instrumental in bringing down the Soviet Union. Pakistan even brought US to its knees in Afghanistan as we speak.

Russians are not going to Pakistan year after year for fun. Russia knows that their military has a lot to learn from Pakistan's Army & ISI which is considered the best intelligence agency in the world.

Again the Soviets lost tens of millions of people in WW2, entire cities were ruble and the financial cost was in the trillions. They survived, in Afghanistan the Soviets only lost 10,000 soldiers. Yet somehow the uneducated and gullible keep repeating the same propaganda about how they "beat" the Soviets. Afghanistan forces loyal the the Soviets still survived 3 years after the Soviets pulled out, that gives an idea of how overblown the propaganda is/was.

It's clear that you and most people here know nothing about Perestroika and Gorbachev.

Perestroika was initiated in 1987 after Soviets lost to Pakistan in Afghanistan and withdrew. Just think why Russia is going to Pakistan year after year. There is so much Russians need to learn fro Pakistan's military and ISI. Let's agree to disagree as I do not want to argue with you.

It isn't regular infantry it's the Russian Spetsnaz.

Did anyone catch the Pakistan SSG commando speaking Russian in the beginning of the video?

Why they are wearing Regular infantry Cameo's ?
yeah there are translators on both sides, we have seen it in the other exercise that happen a year ago .

Bhai aise reporter ho tu mai bhi Russian seekh lun ga :D

Hoga unka apna uniform, but the reporter kept saying spetsnaz so I'm pretty sure it's not regular infantry.

Yar tu meri talaq karvaye ga! :hitwall:

Firstly how did the Soviets "lose" to Pakistan when there was never any formal fighting between the Who countries? The Soviets controlled almost every major city and won almost every major battle.

Secondly Perestroika was a social and economic reform and the Soviet Union pulled out in 1989 not 87. Communist Afghans forces, which had a poor combat record fought on until 1993 without Russian support, so much for that Soviet defeat and 'powerful' Mujas which got spanked in combat the few times they decided to actually fight.

Not this mythical propaganda again. Read up on the Battle for Hill 3234 to see who got a thrashing. The Soviets had heavy artillery and air power for almost every battle so nobody on the Soviet side got any thrashings unless you subscribe to propaganda.

The Soviets never suffered heavy casualties in battle, most casualties were from ambushes to supply convoys which included planting land mines and using RPGs, other casualties included downed aircraft. In other words most of the time 'mujas' never came face to face with the red army and they preferred it that way because even a few dozens Soviet soldiers would often be enough to send hundreds of mujas to their graves or running.

Jesus, learn some history, the Soviet Union breaking apart had zero to do with Pakistan or Afghanistan. The Soviet Union lost tens of millions in WW2, had entire cities destroyed and occcupied and they never broke apart. In Afghanistan the Soviet lost only 10,000 soldiers.

Google perestroika and Gorbachev or read a book on the subject. There is your answer.

Hill 3234... yeah sur bro.... although SSGs role in that war was minimal... with some volunteers accompanying muhahideen, battle planning, choose targete etc.

Just coz you have made a movie mythical 3234 peak where a company of russian sf va a billion Mujahideen doesnt mean anything.

We all know soviet troops only controlled by 10% of afghanistan during their best of times..

Also soviets only rarely engaged Mujahideen ... because they never patrolled on foot.. choosing to travel on armed convoys which were regularly ambushed and entire convoys wiped out..

In the end 15,000 soviets died in 10 years of a failed war.

You know whats ironic?

Indians sold ammo to CIA to be used against your own soviet friends..

Ishapore ordinance factories initially sent .303 ammo...

I never even seen the looslely based movie about Hill 3234, in real life 39 paratroopers held off 250-400 fighters believed to be Pakistani special forces, with no less then 200 being killed while the Soviets only suffered 6 deaths themselves.

15,000 casualties including none combat losses such as disease, accidents, suicides. Actually cambat losses are around 10k with most being from ambushes consisting of mines and IEDs. A lot of aircraft was also shot down or crashed due to mechanical problems, pilot error, or bad weather conditions.

The only convoys the Mujas managed to 'whipe out' were small resupply convoys consisting of 2-3 vehicles. In actually battle the mujas got spanked if they ever actually faced Soviet forces head on. Propaganda withstanding the only defeat the Soviets suffered was in the propaganda department since people are still ignorant of the war to this day.

250-400 SF? Bro.. total strength of SSG back than was under 1000... even today its around 2K+.

Thats like sending half your men to a foriegn country to take a dozen soviets out and losing a qauarter of your strength..

I saw the movie.. shows 1 “suspected” ISI/SSG fellow wearing aviators and hiding his face in most of the movie.

And I see russian propoganda... a small hill with Mujahideen popping on it like a mothafuka to get slaughtered by dug in soviet paratroopers.. I mean fk that... Id rather watch “Saving private Ryan” or fuking “Fury”..

Read a book.. Bear Trap by Brig (R) Tirimzi who ran the Afghan desk.
They took volunteers, usually a young captain or major embedded with the Mujahideen.. tasked on blowing soviet bases or installions!

The officers job was training the Mujas... plannin, coordinating and planning attacks, logistics and get the fuk outta there.

Or see declassified pictures;

Brig Yasub Dogar SSG and ISI. 80s Picture in Gardez, Afghanistan. Posturing and commending his helpful work with a measure of Qahwa while Soviet Ammo dump consumes out of sight directly after a mujahideen assault.

Doesnt matter bro.. the troops were mostly conscripts (apart from spetsnaz)... your troops were even selling Oil, tyres and batteries lol... alot of them junkies sucking afghan opium n heroine, fuking hash!

You also lost quiet a few jets etc to Pakistan.... and alot of defections by soviet and afghan commie pilots wasnt rare... we got over half a dozen MI-25s.... couple of Mig-21s, transport and ground attack planes...

Your bases were attacked as far as Uzbekistan were fuking attacked by ISI and Mujas!

Your hinds and jets even fell to AAA fire by Mujahideen..

The mujas were much more tougher than russians... surviving on days old naans, wearing tattered cloths in harsh winters... attacking soviets.
The only convoys the Mujas managed to 'whipe out' were small resupply convoys consisting of 2-3 vehicles. In actually battle the mujas got spanked if they ever actually faced Soviet forces head on. Come on homie...

Your entire colomns were wiped out in mountain ambushes... the same Rocket or homemade IED combo followed by machine gun sweeps... wiped out soviet soldiers.. while russians wiped out entire villages..

There are a million videos on YT, showing Mujahideen ambushing soviets..

Your biggest asset was the Hind and airpower... that was nullified by induction of Stingers (fuk the blowpipe missile and the overall european weapons by UK & France)..

You couldnt protect your tunnels, your main arteries (highways).... even your bases in Uzbekistan werent immune from attacks..

The only thing soviets had in controls was where they parked their tanks...

Even today NATO isnt even control of 40% of Afghanistan...
