Russia’s early warning radars have detected the launch of two ballistic rockets in the eastern Mediterranean, Russia’s Defense Ministry stated. The launch reportedly took place at 06:16 GMT Tuesday.

The trajectory of the missiles is reported to have been from the central part of the Mediterranean Sea towards the eastern landmass.

The Syrian embassy in Moscow currently has no information on the incident.

There were no rocket attack signals or blasts in Damascus, the Russian embassy in Syria noted.

Armavir, an early warning system against missile attack, is situated in southern Russia. It is run by the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces. They provide radar coverage of the Middle East. There are two radars there, with one of them facing southwest and the other southeast.

MOSCOW: Russian radar detected two ballistic "objects" that were fired towards the eastern Mediterranean from the central part of the sea on Tuesday, state-run news agency RIA quoted the defense ministry as saying.

The defense ministry declined immediate comment to Reuters.

Two ballistic "objects" that Russia said were launched toward the eastern coast of the Mediterranean fell into the sea, state-run Russian news agency RIA cited a source in Damascus as saying.

A ministry official had earlier criticized the United States for deploying warships in the Mediterranean close to Syria.

Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in Syria said there were no signs of a missile attack or explosions in Damascus on Tuesday after Russia detected the launch of two ballistic "objects" in the Mediterranean Sea, Itar-Tass news agency said.

Israel "not aware" of any east Mediterranean missile launch

Israel said it was unaware of any ballistic missile launch being conducted in the eastern Mediterranean. "We are not aware, at this time, of such an event having occurred," a military spokeswoman in Jerusalem said.

Israel says missile launch was joint drill with US

Firing had raised alarms after Russian radar detected rocket; IDF and US earlier said they had no knowledge of ballistic objects

Russia raised a brief alarm in the Middle East Tuesday after apparently detecting a joint Israel and US missile launch test in the Mediterranean.

Israel’s defense ministry confirmed that it carried out a test of an Anchor missile, which was meant as a test of radar systems.

Russia reported that two ballistic objects had been fired from the central Mediterranean to the eastern coast of the sea at 10:16 a.m. Moscow time, which is an hour ahead of Israel.

The Russian RIA news agency later reported that the two objects had fallen into the sea.

The ministry said Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had informed Russian President Vladimir Putin of the launch.

The Russian Embassy in Syria said it saw no sign of a missile attack in Damascus, and an Israel Defense Forces spokesperson said the military had no knowledge of a launch, Reuters reported.

“The IDF does not refer to foreign reports,” a spokesperson told The Times of Israel.

A NATO spokesperson told RIA the group would probe the reports.

A US official said none of its forces in the area had launched any missiles, CBS reported.

No other information was available. The Defense Ministry declined comment to Reuters.

The news comes as tensions have risen in the region over the possibility of a Western-led strike on Syria

Mystery solved: Israel successfully launched target missile - Israel News, Ynetnews

The Israeli Defense Ministry, in cooperation with the US, launched and successfully completed a launch and radar tracking of a Sparrow target missile. Russia announced earlier it had tracked the launching of two ballistic missiles in the eastern Mediterranean sea. It is possible that the Russian announcement relates to this launch. (Yoav Zitun)

So it wasn't an 'Anchor' radar missile test, more like an offensive capability test....

Pretty racist for someone who is raised in western countries.

Pretty confrontational and mouthy for someone sporting a complete loser in their profile picture.

Don't try and take me on son. I'll beat you down in 6 seconds, never mind 6 days.

Stick to your own western values and stop racist comments. You don't have time for Egypt now. Keep ready for 100000 Iranian missiles and Russian S300, S400.
