Americans are great people though. I see too many badmouth them on here, because of their governments/history, it's disgusting if you ask me.

United States of America values are said to be different from USSR/Russian Federation.

But here Military blocking is there and all are having thier national and long term interest.

KALININGRAD, December 7. /TASS/. Russia’s newest Sukhoi-30SM fighter jets will complement Baltic Fleet’s aviation group in 2017, the fleet’s press-service said on Wednesday, adding that the first plane of this type would land at an air base in Chernyakhovsk, near Kaliningrad on December 8.

"Several more such planes will be provided for the Baltic Sea Fleet’s air group under the government defense contract in 2017," the news release runs.

Several crews selected to fly the Sukhoi-30SM jets have already undergone retraining at a naval air pilots’ training center in Yeisk. They are expected to share newly-acquired skills with their colleagues at the airbase as more planes arrive.

The Sukhoi-30SM is the latest configuration of Russia’s multirole heavy fighter Sukhoi-30 (generation 4Plus). It is highly maneuverable and equipped with a phased array antenna radar, thrust vector control and front stabilizers.

May?

In December 2013, Russia disclosed that the Iskander missile system had been deployed in the Western Military District.
In March 2015, there were reports in Russian media that Russia had deployed Iskander missiles to Kaliningrad.
In October 2016, there were again reports that the missile system had been deployed in Kaliningrad.

Medvedev was first to talk about it in 2010, if I am not mistaken. Frankly, I do not understand the buzz around the deployment of your weapons on your own territory.

Except that Kaliningrad is a bit 'different' from the Russian heartland, yes? A Coldwar relic, so to speak, smack in the middle of North-Western Europe..

You can pretty much dismiss any story who's take is; Russian deployments or exercises are always "defensive". NATO deployments or exercises are always "aggressive". Sort of like when Russia invaded it's neighbour, Ukraine and annexed it's territory- "When we invade....it's not an invasion." "It's intervening in response to YOUR aggression."

Where do I remember reading something like that, oh...

"The invasion {of Poland} was referred to by Germany as the 1939 Defensive War since Hitler proclaimed that Poland had attacked Germany (!) and that "Germans in Poland are persecuted with a bloody terror and are driven from their homes. The series of border violations, which are unbearable to a great power, prove that the Poles no longer are willing to respect the German frontier."

No. NATO is the relic of Cold War. US troops in Europe - is a relic of the Cold War. And Kaliningrad region - is one of the subjects of the Russian Federation. It is "relic" of World War 2 as many other boundaries in Europe.

Ultimately, all boundaries are relicts from a previous area. But seriously....

Frankly, I also think that it is better to return to the borders of 1914. For this, we can even give Kaliningrad to Germany.
But what you gonna do?
Kaliningrad - is the territory of the Russian Federation. There are no agreements about "demilitarized" status of the region, or any other limitations in military terms in the region.
Nobody can forbid Russia to locate weapons on the territory of Russia.
Similarly, no one can forbid the United States to locate weapons on the territory of the United States.
Btw, map of 1875 is inaccurate - Finland was part of Russia then.

The borders of 1991 are fine, so long as you realize and acknowledge the original German popilation was driven out and many others resettled here, ans it is not part of traditional mother Russia. Objectively/Realistically, maintaining Kaliningrad oblkast as such is not necessarily a good idea: it is an obvious potential conflict source. It c/should go - whole or in part- to Poland, Lithuania and/or Belarus. The (strategic) value to Russia at this moment lies in the fact that Baltiejsk, the former Pillau, provides the only icefree Baltic Sea port to Russia.

As far as I know, nobody in Europe has territorial claims to Russia. The Kaliningrad region is not the subject of a territorial dispute. Kaliningrad region - is the territory of Russia by all the laws of the Russian Federation. And it is not restricted in the rights in locating certain types of military equipment.
So - why all the buzz? Based on what? Only based on the fact that someone does not like the actual Russian borders? I do not like them, too, Russia is too small at the moment. Like in 18 ct.
Dissolve the NATO and Russia will not have reasons to place additional weapons in Kaliningrad.

I didn't suggest anybody had any territorial claims or that there was any dispute. QUite the contrary, I've often pointed out the opposite here. I'm just stating what I think would be wise.

It is at the same time rather silly to pretend that placing long range SAMs and tactical ballistic missile in Kaliningrad is just an internal matter and poses no threat to the immediate region, while publically chestpounding (i.e. a head of state of or key government official making remarks like ' if country X does Y then we will park missile Z in Kaliningrad.) That veneer is simply too thing.

NATO is no threat to Russia. Having seen Napoleon, Hitler founder there, no European country in their right mind will consider invading or otherwise going to war Russia. And the US has no reason to either. What Russia is experiencing now is just like the Brits did after their empire dissolved post WW2: post-emperial spasms. Eventually, this will also happen to the US. And over an even longer term to the Chinese.

But do not you see some connection between the appearance of the US missile defense system in Europe with the location of additional weapons in Kaliningrad?

No.

Aegis ashore: two sites: the first in Romania at Deveselu that was opened in May 2015 (operational may 2016) and the second in Poland in 2018. In 2020, both will get the latest versions of the Aegis BMD software and the latest version of the SM-3.
In 2013, KBR was awarded the Aegis Ashore contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Europe District to construct the facilities necessary to support Europe's first land-based ballistic missile defense system at Romania's Deveselu Air Base.

On 29 September 2009, the Russian military announced plans to set up an extensive network of Iskander missiles throughout the country as part of the broader military reforms underway. According to General Vladimir Boldyrev (rtd.), Iskander systems would be stationed in every military district in Russia but not in Kaliningrad. On 23 November 2011, Medvedev again said that Russia may deploy Iskander tactical missiles in the Kaliningrad region as part of Russia’s reaction to the United States' reformulated missile shield plans. Poland called the situation "very alarming".
