Russia joins 4 ex-Soviet nations in creating new alliance

The problem is, EEU don't really have any economic clout.

They are all resource rich nations and out of them, only Russia is technologically advanced. EEU should also be including China as that would significantly boost economic power. If SCO can become a solid block then all the more better where EEU and SCO be merged into one entity.

Personally, I think that SCO-EEU merger would work wonders as it would truly create a pan Eurasian economic structure with powerful economies. But this entity should not have military interests. Economy first and only then military.

Very good.

I believe Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, AND Ukraine need to be handed back to Russia by the US and the EU simply telling these countries they're not welcome in the EU and NATO.
Yanks, since you're the ones with the most clout in this, you know we got eastern-germany and Poland in the EU and NATO already. That's expansion eastward FAR ENOUGH folks. AND you have a responsibility to use anything east of the line from the western-northern border of Poland straight down to the middetereanan sea below, never as a staging ground against anything that "the Russians have" (meaning : no nato missile defence shield there at all folks, and no troop/equipment concentrations either), with as only exception ofcourse : significant wardrum rumbling against NATO/EU in Moscow AND unreasonable EEU military mobilization on the EEU's western borders.

STOP PLAYING WORLD POLITICS LIKE GREEDY ARROGANT 4 YEAR OLDS.

All those countries are independent and they are members of the west alliance. Those countries are already part of EU and NATO and you Putlerbots cannot do nothing more than cry about it.

If you love Russia so much perhaps you should emigrate to Moscow?

maybe you should ask @peacefan to give you back republic of karelia from Russia before preaching western imperialism...

Why would Finland need Karelia back? It's full of Russians and it would require billions of euros to make that place look like civilized area. In many areas Karelia hasn't changed since 1950's and probably remains that way as long we live.

Funny how most Putlerbots here don't even live in Russia... instead they chose to live in "the evil west".

lol i can only think of karelia as a disputed territories.

And true, things arent change much over there pretty much since the siege of leningrad...And that would be what Ukraine et al looking at if they allow their separatist movement go on ...

Which is quite a stark reminder to the rest of baltic states

I'm fine where i am. I'd like it to stay that way, and preventing unnecessary tensions with Moscow is therefore part of my agenda.

I think do that there is a huge technology gap between Western countries and Russia. Russian Federation is working to modernalize its military and even for the oil and gas exploration in Arctic regions, Russian Federation is trying to get help from US and European oil companies. China and India will invest in Arctic.

Arctech Helsinki Shipyard specialises in arctic shipbuilding technology and the construction of icebreakers, arctic offshore and other special vessels. Arctech is a joint-venture owned with equal shares by STX Finland and United Shipbuilding Corporation. The company combines the expertise of the two major shipbuilding companies and unites the marine industry clusters of Russia and Finland.

The joint venture agreement was signed in December 2010, and Arctech started its operation in April 2011. However, the shipyard has a long history, having been established in 1865, with ships built in the same location for almost 150 years.

Bhai sahab, the problem again is not military. Russia is still the world's second most powerful military and has that level of advancement in military technologies. The problem is elsewhere:

1- Civilian technologies: There are many hidden gems but where are they?
2- Failure to promote Russian as alternate to English beyond the Vodka belt.
3- Poor marketing skills of whatever good they have, to the rest of the world.
4- Weak manufacturing sector; poor development of microprocessor industry.
5- Over dependence on oil and gas exports while USA continues to dominate everywhere; whether it is to global information through social networks, controlling news media or managing the flow of consumer choice through innovation, USA leads through and through.

Russia on the other hand has miles to catch up outside the Vodka belt. Not to mention many former soviet states jumping onto EU and NATO bandwagon.

Nordic nations specialize in many unique innovations. They are at par with countries like Germany, Japan and ahead of US when it comes to civilian innovation.

Russia on the other hand dominates in military technologies which don't translate into civilian achievements in innovation. Also whatever does manage to seep through, never really highlights the MADE IN RUSSIA tag.

We all love Russia and Putin because he stands up to the fascist thugs in Washington and its vassal regimes in Europe.

Without Russia, Europe would be under Nazi German control in 2015.

Putin is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest leader on this planet.

Russia need to price and sell all their natural resources in Roubles.
This will increase global demand for the Russian currency.

Russia needs quicker reform and these sanctions might be the catalyst to reform Russia.

Tell me, did you use your special colored crayons & European map to draw the new frontiers? Or did you just drool all over it?

Why would there ever be global demand for Russian currency, a currency that is used in a country of 150,000,000 people with a similar GDP to California. Russia will sell what they have in whatever currency its offered, or get nothing, thats how markets work, when a seller has a surplus of a product falling in price they cant make demands.

And you and many other you really need to stop using the word fascist especially in regards to Russia fighting a fascist enemy. Learn the fucking definition

A governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism. Fascism is characterized by nationalism, militarism, and authoritarianism

To deny that this is a good description of Russia is just pure bias and denial of the truth, its also true for America but not in a way close to Russia.
Putin has extreme power, they regularly suppress opposition, even today Twitter announced that Russia has been deleting negative tweets about Putin, all industry is regimented and the nationalism in Russia is extreme, as is racism anywhere in East of Europe.
Nationalism....goes without saying, glory to our great leader Pootin and Russia
Militarism....well the economy is falling BUT they increase military spending
Authoritarianism, well yeah the whole of Russias domestic governance has a serious authoritarianism style.

Russia is in almost all regards a Fascist country and yet every other country is called one by Russias supporters which goes to show the general intelligence levels of the people on RT etc, you can not find a modern country with more of a fascist style of government than Russia, apart from USA.

Completely wrong. Your lack of economic knowledge is laughable.

Russian resources are needed by the world. Russia can price and sell its resources by demanding payment for its resources in Roubles. The seller has the power to demand whatever currency it wants for its goods & services. This creates greater global demand for Roubles as countries that need Russian resources need to hold Roubles which increases the demand for Roubles. Resources cannot be substituted like other manufactured goods. This is why if Russia decided to only demand Roubles for its energy, metals, agriculture exports, the buyers of those resources will need to go to the foreign exchange market and buy Roubles to pay Russia for its resources. This demand for Roubles outside Russia supports the value of the Rouble.

Britain is a fascist country as it's still dictated to by a Queen. What kind of backward country still gets ruled by a 80 year old woman. British jingoism is nothing but fascist in nature. To say otherwise would be denial of truth. British economy is in a complete and utter disaster with debt soaring and middle class shrinking due to the monetary policies that favour the rich. Yet British propaganda mouthpieces along with the fascist regime run by the Queen continue to rob the poor of money to fund its military to pretend to be an empire.

The hard truth is that Britain is utterly irrelevant in the world with nothing to provide the world. With only 60 million people, Britain is not even a regional power. Without America using Britain as a pawn, Britain would be of no use to anyone today. Only thing Britain has today are those utterly useless British tabloids that worship the Queen and that repulsive mass murdering Royal family.

Russia is the most powerful country in Europe with the largest population, most natural resources, most powerful military (by far), largest land area, advanced industrial technologies, having an independent foreign policy and having without a shadow of a doubt the best leader in the world today.
Britain is a nobody compared to Russia. That's a fact!

DUSHANBE, March 13. /TASS/. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has a whole arsenal of tools for protecting the sovereignty of the organization’s member-countries in the event of an external threat, CSTO General Secretary Nikolay Bordyuzha told a news conference on Friday.

According to him, currently there’s an external threat for Central Asian countries coming from Afghanistan.

"We have information about an increase in the number of extremist armed groups in Afghanistan and do not rule out the possibility of their penetration into the territories of the organization’s member-countries," Bordyuzha said. One cannot overlook the fact that "those armed people who are currently fighting in the ranks of extremist and terrorist groups abroad may once return to their home countries to achieve their political goals".

However, the Collective Security Treaty Organization has all necessary forces and means for protecting the integrity and sovereignty of its member states, Bordyuzha warned. "CSTO has a sufficient number of rapid deployment units and 22,000 well-trained elite troops," he said, adding that the organization will need no more than three days for full-scale deployment of its forces in a trouble spot and for the localization of the conflict.

During his three-day working visit to Tajikistan, which holds the rotating chairmanship in CSTO, Bordyuzha held talks with the heads of the country’s security agencies. His meeting with President Emomali Rahmon centered on the tasks facing the organization and the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border.
