But I wonder why they ( ISKCON ) are infamous among many younger generations here ?

They are highly variable. The ones that arent involved in feeding themselves can be quite cultish etc..

To me there has to be practical long term sustainability for a community to function. Living off donations doesn't cut it for me.

I didn't like them for a long time coz I thught they worked on a 'commercialization' of religion. But their work on Midday meals shows awesome commitment to society. I still won't join them, but I can appreciate the work they do. Another person who performs service over religion is Dr. Devi Shetty. He proves that it doesn't make a difference what religion you belong to.

I know what you mean...and I have also learned not to judge them all the same. There are good and bad apples with everyone.

Mr Shetty is one that is above religion and such. Such are few and far between.
