RSS outfit wants Manusmriti reworked

Oh yeah you know that:lol:. I am not trying to prove anything. Sangh and BJP's actions speak for themselves.

Not your money. No:disagree: Till the time the money is not streamlined/divided, you can't claim them for yourself. For example Anil Ambani can't go around splurging money while the Dhirubhai's property is undivided claiming that he is doing this with his share. So as I said, separate the money generated by temples and claim it to be yours until then bear with us. As simple as that.:coffee:

Not gonna keep repeating myself over this again.

You can cry ,moan or repeat whatever you want .We wont care .We will move forward with this initiatives as long as they uses money from our temples

At it's core RSS is Manuvaadi. They won't dare to touch it. RSS is all about re-establishing Vedic Hindutva, the rule of Brahmins and some high castes of whole Aryavarta (Akhand Bharat). Thus caste system to prevent miscegenation is supported. The dalits and scheduled class Hindus are used as foot soldiers for this purpose which ultimately is about enslaving them. What RSS wants in India is something similar to minority White Europeans ruling majority Negro South Africa. - A politically non-correct answer, the plain truth.

Forty-five kilometres west of Chennai is the village of Sriperumbudur. Here lived a Vedic scholar, Kesava Somayaji and his wife Kantimati. By the grace of Lord Parthasarathi, the presiding deity of Tiruvallikeni temple, a son was born to them in the Pingala year, Chitra month, under the asterisk of Tiruvadirai (April 4, 1017). Immediately a message was sent to his maternal uncle, Tirumalai Nambi who named the baby Ramanuja. As a pious Srivaishnava, he considered kainkarya (service to the Lord) as very important, since Rama’s younger brother Lakshmana is known as Kainkarya Sriman. The name turned out to be very apt for Ramanuja’s life was spent in serving God and serving humanity. Which is why he remains relevant even in the millennium of his birth.

An apt pupil for his scholarly father, Ramanuja grew up to be an erudite scholar and was married to Thanjamambal at the appropriate age. But the father’s sudden passing was a great blow indeed.

Sri Ramanuja consciously prepared himself for the onerous duties of becoming a religious-spiritual head by undergoing studies in the scriptures, vedanta as also the hymns of the Alvars. His teachers were all great eminences like Peria Nambi, Tirukoshtiyur Nambi, Maladhara and Vararanga. Soon he was in demand as a teacher too.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma launches implementation of ‘National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India’ from Goverdhan Block, Mathura

Scheme is set to cover all blocks of the country, involving a total of 6.40 lakh villages over the span of next 3 years

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Culture & Tourism launched the implementation of the ‘‘National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India’ at Goverdhan Block, Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh in a day long, Block level mega talent hunt programme (Sanskritik Pratibha Khoj Samaroh) yesterday. Shri Srikant Sharma, Energy Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Ministry’s Senior officials and various renowned artists including Padma, Sangeet Natak Akademi and State Awardees were present. This Mission is part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ umbrella. Ministry of Culture launched it in the year of commemoration of the birth centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, who hailed from Mathura.

Artists in large number participated in this Block level event where they also registered themselves following which a registration certificate/slip/code was provided to all the artists who registered. A stage was provided to the registered artists for performance and displaying their talent. A panel of renowned artists were invited for judging the participants in different art forms. Registration was directly on the portal culturalmappingofindia.nic.in. For those artists who, for some reason, could not register themselves and their art forms, enumeration teams had been sent to all the 47 villages of Goverdhan Block for geo mapping of artists and their art forms. Any person who claims to be an artist can register at the initial level.

Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Mahesh Sharma said that paving the way for the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ programme led by the the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the mission aims at converting the vast and widespread cultural canvas of India into an objective cultural map, designing a mechanism to fulfil the aspirations of the whole artist community of the nation and preserving the rich cultural heritage of this country in the form of a cultural repository of artists and art forms. This Mission encompasses data mapping, demography building formalising the processes and bringing all the cultural activities under one web based umbrella for better results. The Mission also seeks to open a direct channel of communication of artists with the Government and peer to peer communication among artists for talent honing and handholding of each other.

He informed that immediately after this event in Mathura district, the Ministry of Culture will be organising similar Block level events in other States too so as to kick start the process of scaling up the efforts to cover all the Blocks of the Country. The current round includes Shimoga Block in Shimoga District, Karnataka, Thanesar Block in Kurukshetra District, Haryana, Chauri – Chaura Block in Gorakhpur District in Uttar Pradesh & Saraikela Block in Saraikela - Kharsawan District in Jharkhand.

Dr. Sharma said that with a vision that no cultural talent or heritage should remain unattended and if it is talent, it should be nurtured and if it is a heritage, it should be conserved and used as an icon to learn from the past, and also to propagate our cultural talent across all boundaries, the Ministry of Culture has planned to hold talent hunt competitions with various rounds from Block level to National level. The scheme is set to cover all the Blocks of the Country, involving a total of 6.40 Lakh villages over the span of next 3 years.

Shri N. K. Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Culture in his opening remarks said that the Ministry of Culture is eying to launch massive cultural awareness campaigns so that no artist is left behind. The Artist/Organisations also may register online at www.culturalmapping.nic.in. The Cultural Mapping of India portal will serve as a repository/consolidated database of information about cultural assets and resources i.e. a cultural inventory at one place for essential planning, sustainable economic development and for preserving the scattered and near extinct art forms.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief (Sarsanghchalak) Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said that it was the “determined spiritualism” of Hindus that enabled them to evade religious conversion during the long history of invasions in the country.

Bhagwat was in Vrindavan to inaugurate the ‘Mansi Dhyan Kendra’, a meditation centre, at preacher Kaushal Kishore Maharaj’s Nikunj Van ashram. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Baba Ramdev also addressed the gathering.

Addressing the gathering, the RSS chief said enough was being preached all around but the need of the hour was to implement what was being said.

“For this, we need to be determined to our core and aim high,” he said, adding that the newly-inaugurated meditation centre could help in achieving this mission. “Our ability to meditate should be strong. Unaffected by all external factors, we should be able to change the external atmosphere,” he said while explaining the practical benefits of ‘dhyan’.

Speaking about India’s long history of invasions, he said, “Hindus evaded conversion to Islam because of their spiritual strength. They could withstand the harsh treatment meted out to them during repeated invasions.”

Cautioning people against confusing sloganeering with patriotism, Bhagwat said, “The nation will not prosper by merely saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. One has to act. We should be able to tell the coming generations how we contributed in taking our country to greater heights, something that we expect to happen in the coming days.”

The RSS chief also came down heavily on communists. “Those propagating communism say they intend to make the poor rich and vice versa. But, they are often clueless about the means they should adopt for the welfare of the poor,” he said.

On the occasion, Bhagwat also honoured the people who helped establish ‘Mansi Dhyan Kendra’ on Parikrama Marg here. ‘Katha vachak’ Kaushal Kishore Maharaj was present on the occasion.

RSS outfit wants Manusmriti reworked
According to Chand, fresh research should be commissioned on Manusmriti.

Union Minister of Culture Mahesh Sharma (File Photo)
THE RSS’s cultural affiliate Sanskar Bharti is planning to tie up with the Union Ministry of Culture to promote activities that will “correct the lies that people have been fed” about ancient Hindu scriptures being “anti-Dalit and anti-woman”, starting with the Manusmriti, a senior office-bearer of the organisation told The Sunday Express.

According to Amir Chand, joint organisational secretary, Sanskar Bharti, the Sangh outfit believes that people should be educated about “the acceptance that our scriptures teach” through performing arts and awareness activities, such as seminars.

“We are debating the removal of portions from the Manusmriti, which are anti-Dalit and anti-woman and often quoted in arguments against Hindu scriptures,” he said.

“There are some references in Manusmriti where some objectionable things have been mentioned. It should be deleted. We do not support them. We have to see Manusmriti in today’s context. We will suggest to the government that they look into this,” said Chand.

When contacted by The Sunday Express, Union Minister of Culture, Mahesh Sharma said, “We have not received any such proposal. We will take cognizance once we get it.”

Manusmriti is a compilation of rules and regulations prepared by Manu meant for the conduct of a varnashrama, or a social system based on caste. Scholars date the codification by Manu to 200 CE, though claims are made for a much earlier date.

According to Chand, fresh research should be commissioned on Manusmriti.

“We believe that Manu was born 8,000 years ago… There are several versions of Manusmriti, which have been written 5,500 years after his birth and thus the credentials of the authors and their writings need to be questioned. It is a matter of research, someone needs to look in to this,” he said.

Chand said that the scriptures never “promoted anti-Dalit or anti-woman sentiments” and described such interpretations as “propaganda” and the result of “ignorance”.

“Many did not know that Rigveda has 47 richayen (hymns) written by a woman. How can such vedas be anti-woman? It is ignorance about our own scriptures that lead many to criticise them. I can understand that Manusmriti has something wrong, but that can be removed after thorough research into who wrote it,” said Chand.

A good move. Isn't it?

Shows how Hindus as a society are willing to move forward even though that book is not a religious book. As far as I know, the Sanskrit language term 'Smriti' means something to be remembered rather than a religious text.

But yes, if they are willing to change that, then it only shows that Hindus are tolerant and are willing to even realise and acknowledge the wrong concepts which influence the society.

I'd like to see organised religions having the guts to change some of their laws and views.

There are wrong things in every society; it just takes courage and open-mindedness to accept the flaws and change. Don't see much in so-called 'religions of the world'.
