In yet another show of solidarity with Myanmar, India has refused to be a part of a declaration adopted at an international parliamentary forum conference in Indonesia as it carried "inappropriate" reference to violence in Rakhine state from where 1,64,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh.

An Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan, distanced itself from the Bali Declaration adopted at the “World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development” held in Nusa Dua, Indonesia.

"This was in view of the fact that the declaration, which was to be adopted at the conclusion of the Forum, was not in line with the agreed global principles of “sustainable development," a press statement issued by the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) Secretariat on Thursday night said.

India reiterated its stance that the purpose of convening the parliamentary forum was to arrive at mutual consensus for implementation of Sustainable Development Goals which requires inclusive and broad-based development processes, it said.

"Therefore, the proposed reference to the violence in Rakhine state in the declaration was considered as not consensus-based and inappropriate," the statement said.

The part of the declaration to which India objected spoke of the forum expressing "deep concern on ongoing violence in the Rakhine state of Myanmar, amongst others..."

The conference declaration went on to "call on all parties to contribute to the restoration of stability and security, exercise maximum self-restraint from using violent means, respect the human rights of all people in Rakhine state regardless of their faith and ethnicity, as well as facilitate and guarantee safe access for humanitarian assistance."

The Lok Sabha statement said “the country-specific amendment to the draft declaration was proposed at the eleventh hour by selective countries which referred to the violence in Rakhine state of Myanmar.

"India argued that specifying a particular country is unjustified as this forum is focused on Sustainable Development Goals and inclusive development for all countries based on cooperative and collaborative approach to achieve the 2030 Agenda for the world," according to the statement.

“Never before country-specific issues have been included in the declaration as these dilute the objective of these Forums which require unity and focused efforts of all the countries," the Lok Sabha Secretariat statement said.

The Indian delegation took the stance on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his maiden three-day bilateral visit to Myanmar where he backed the government of that country in the face of extremist violence in Rakhine state.

Modi had, during a joint appearance before the media with Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, had urged all stakeholders to find a solution that respects the country’s unity.

nothing new as they are doing the same with Muslims and other minorities in India and in Kashmir so its natural for indians to support the brutality in Mayanmar.

. .
and what when these indian jerk Modi barks against Pakistan even if he visit some wedding ceremony?

.
Every country looks after it's interests. Sadly saving Rohingyas doesn't seem to be anyone's interest. I wo der which counties were part of this declaration. Anyway I hope India getting close to Myanmar will eventually distance Myanmar from China.

If India and China are with Myanmar, then they don't need rest of the world either.
And why Pakistan is making so much noise. What is happening is Myanmar is happening with Hindus, Ahmedis on daily basis in Pakistan.

I don't give a damn about religion but some particular communities require to be paid back in there way only.

India firm on deporting Rohingya

A day after the Centre on Monday refused to give 40,000 Rohingya Muslim immigrants an assurance that it will not move for their deportation back to Myanmar, MoS for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said State governments have been asked to make a task force to identify them.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a North East Democratic Alliance meet in NEw Delhi on Tuesday.

Responding to criticim made by human rights activists on government's proposed deportation plans, Mr. Rijiju said India has absorbed the maximum number of refugees and "nobody should tell us how to deal with refugees.

"

During the monsoon session of Parliament, the government said it had directed State authorities to identify and deport illegal immigrants, including Rohingya, who face persecution in Buddhist-majority Myanmar.

Plea in Supreme Court seeks deportation of Rohingya Muslims

dna Correspondent | Updated: Sep 8, 2017, 07:00 AM IST, DNA

Chennai-based 'Indic Collective' has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the expulsion of the beleaguered Rohingya community that is currently living in India as refugees.

In its plea, the collective submitted, "accommodating Rohingyas in India is equivalent to inviting wretchedness, turbulence, and disturbance on Indian soil". The group sought to intervene in a matter before a bench led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, where two refugees have moved a petition seeking a stay on the deportation of Rohingyas.

Suvidutt MS, the advocate who filed the plea said that Rohingyas are the face of "Islamic terror." He submitted that the community has migrated illegally to neighbouring countries after Myanmar denied them citizenship under the 1982 Burmese Act.

"Around 40,000 Rohingyas residing in India as illegal immigrants pose a serious threat not only to national security but also to peacefully living Indian citizens," the plea said.

"There is a clear and present social, economic and security threat. If India does not set down the rules of the game right now, it will be difficult to argue against and stop Rohingya influx into India at a later point of time."

The home country must primarily solve the problem, the petition said despite acknowledging that the plight of the refugees was a "humanitarian disaster". "India cannot solve this crisis by importing and welcoming it."

Calling the community volatile, Indic Collective claimed the Rohingya community may fan the smouldering fire of separatism. "In this background, it is not just wise, but urgent for India to deport these 40,000 and more Rohingya Muslim refugees from the Indian Territory," the plea said.

It further contended that Rohingyas cannot take shelter under Article 21 (right to life and liberty) of the Indian Constitution to settle as residents and that the Union Government has nonrestrictive power to expel or deport Rohingyas.

On September 11, the bench of the CJI along with Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud will hear the government stand on the proposed deportation.

SC stand so far
Earlier, the SC refused to interfere and issue interim stay in any proposed deportation process of Rohingyas fleeing Myanmar.

SC has asked Centre if Rohingyas, who have sought refuge in India, are entitled to stay in the country.

Sure, part of the new "oppressors of the world unite!" initiative. Not surprising, at all.

.
Whereever Muslims are oppressed ( which is almost every where )

Mother India wants a part;

Who by the way claims to be the 2nd biggest "muslim" population in the world.

.
It is all about foreign policy. Why would we go against Myanmar? Doesn't make any sense.

. .
Mr Javed,

Cheenis are oppressing Muslims in Uyghurstan, so why are you going with them? You are citadel of Islam, no?
