The SCO is a pretty successful organization within the context of its well-defined objectives: No terrorism, no separatism and no interference. It is neither NATO nor influence welding organization against the US. Russia and China, along with three other members, are pretty harmonious within the SCO.

Not supported by facts. The U.S. has been pretty much a good friend to Europe, Japan & South Korea. Sometimes I have to wonder about the thinking that allows China which went from bhai-bhai to bye-bye to be seen as a closer friend than the U.S. ......

But Indian can not allow its bases for US to use like japan, Europe or south chorea, nor will Indian join NATO. US is selfish country it can never be as sincere in relationship as Russia has been to India

Every country will act in its own interest. Yes, India needs to balance its self interest with US's needs in Asia. And I think India is doing it pretty good.

Thinking that China and India have similar visions for Asia is like living in mirage. As the two largest countries in Asia, China and India will one day cross each other's path.

Yes..you are right..US too know that it will be hard for it to make a Japan, Europe or South Korea out of India. India is too large with diverse voices, and takes it position in the world very seriously. Non alignment has served India really good. It is time now to tweak non alignment a little and start taking position on issues that effect the World and the region we live.

Until India is ready to take on China on its own...it is important that US has the power to counter China in Asia. US influence in Asia will help India. Anyway, I think SCO has no future given its objectives are hazzy and also Russia,China, India, the three big powers in SCO, don't have similar vision about the future.

I think India and China very much have the same interest. On the meta level, they just want peace and prosperity in all of Asia. There is enough to share. Even though their governing styles are different, the two nations in all their historical forms, have never been hostile to each other, except in 1962. Even though India is wise to use the US to counter China, because right now China is much more powerful, that won't always be the case. When the time comes that India is about as powerful as China, the two nations will have much more in common with each other, than with the US.

As for now, perhaps joining the SCO gives the three nations a way to fix their bs issues. That means the Kashmir problem, and the border disputes between China and India. Imagine that, when the last roadblocks to regional prosperity have been taken off the table (except internal problems some nations might have).

BRICS is different...the objective of BRICS is to counter West influence on IMF and World Bank. The objectives are clear.

The objectives of SCO are too hazy. What does it mean when SCO say its a security arrangement? Security arrangement against whom? They say terrorism. Now how can SCO counter terrorism?

Even if SCO for the next decade would only mean the coming together of nations every once in a while, and discussing regional problems and trying to find a common plan of action, that would be a HUGE boost to stability. Think about it. Communication is extremely important, so you need a forum. Imagine a forum where India and China discuss on how to combat extremism and separatism in the region. Do you know how much power that would have?

India in SCO will be a disaster.

India in BRICS has turned BRICS into a complete failure.

China should not allow new members in SCO and should pull out of BRICS.

India is an enemy of China. Therefore they should not be invited to these groups.
