With Israel facing another dry winter, its agriculture minister is thinking unconventionally and has invited farmers and the general public for a mass prayer at the Western Wall with hopes it will finally “rip the skies open.”
“Unfortunately, after four years of drought, we've only had a little bit of rain so far (this year), less than the multi-annual average, and this winter is shaping up to be dry,” Uri Ariel told the Ynet News website.

“I call on the public to take part in the prayer… And bring umbrellas because together we will rip open the skies,” he stated. The minister’s call was backed by Israel's two Chief Rabbis, Yitzhak Yosef and David Lau; farmers, settler leaders and heads of agricultural organizations who said they were all planning to attend the mass prayer scheduled for Thursday.

The supreme spiritual authority in Judaism, the Chief Rabbinate, also called on synagogues to make arrangements for special prayers to be recited three times a day during services. It also declared Thursday a day of fasting, prayer and repentance, asking God for rain, Arutz Sheva reported.

“He will see our suffering and hear our prayers, and fulfil our requests for mercy, providing rain and blessed dew. May God Bless us with the dew of heaven, the fat of the land, and bless us with peace,” the declaration by the Chief Rabbinate said.

However, many people on Facebook and Twitter were puzzled by the authorities’ over-reliance on a higher power, urging practical steps to tackle the drought. “I don’t want to rain on your parade… It will be more efficient if you worry about adding more desalination plants,” one said as cited by Jewish Chronicle paper.

According to the weather model by the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, which Israel relies on, there is a 64.7 percent chance of insufficient precipitation in the country’s primary rainy months of December, January and February.

. . . . .
Who cares about Israel?
The only country which cares about Israel is USA.

Obviously the starter of this thread bharwana cares a lot. Otherwise he would not start this thread. I am sure he did not start this thread to gloat at farmers misfortune.

Though it is strange he just mentioned Israel and not all the other countries that are effected by this.

But just in case some fail to understand is that we are all in the same boat and what effects one country effects us all.

The droughts effect Cyprus, , Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Turkey and other countries. And this does not seem to be some one year problem but the expansion of desert areas on a global scale.

But most of all it effects countries that rely mostly on agriculture for survival. Which is not the case in Israel.

Many of the farmers in those countries do not have high tech developed irrigation systems. Which means they depend solely on rainfall for watering their fields.

For example : In Syria as bharwana mentioned ( it rained in Israel too today BTW ) only about 16% of the cropped area are irrigated and they depend heavily on rainfall. Which means that the farmers have planted their fields in the summer and now the ground has become too hard for the seeds to break out .

If there is not going to be some drastic change in the next 1-2 weeks all those crops would simply die and the farmers would starve.

And it is not just the farmers .Over 75 percent of households in rural areas in syria still grow food for their own consumption.

Conclusion :

Pray for rain ...

World thinks 21 century is more advanced than 20th but in reality 20th was better than 21 century. Iphone 4 was better than Iphone 7.

Every thing sell now you just need to tweet about it.

Another Mamnoon hussain. Pakistan and Israel have soo much in common.

There is nothing more disgusting than someone cheering some doomsday apocalypse in the hope that only he would survive while everyone else would suffer. What a " humanitarian " this person you decided to quote is ...

i too can quote hadith

“None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself” (Forty Hadith-Nawawi)

Strangely enough all the three religions have the same version of prophecy but each think that they will be the one to enjoy the fruits of the end of time and all the others would suffer.

And Strangely enough i just finished writing about this subject so i don't see why i should work hard to answer this fanatic in the clip and post it again.

Those prophecies where given as a warning to man kind . Why else do you think they where given ? If not to change that fate ?

I am not religious but do believers and people of faith really think that God would like to see his children kill one another in some stupid Armageddon ?

While the final result is determined and cant be changed - which is eternal peace among all man kind - the way to get there depends on how people behave.

As it is written :

" He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. "

Isaiah 2:4

It took Europeans two bloody world wars to finely realise that slaughtering one another as they have for hundreds of years is not the way to go.

Now do we really need some terrible apocalypse to realise that simple truth ?

Now if all three religions gives warning about a terrible war that might happen before the end of days one would expect people to do all that is in their power to avoid that fate.

And if this region starts burning as it has in recent years with wars and bloodshed all the way from Yemen to Syria than this should serve as a red flag to all of us !

But instead of realizing we need to tread carefully and avoid this fate , promote love and peace amongst nations, some people think it wise to pour fire on this flame,

Do we really need to learn this lesson the hard way as the Europeans did ? Or can we be wise and carve a better future for our children that does not involve this horror ?

conclusion :

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There will be no more wars
And our children will play
One day [6x]

It's not about
Win or lose
'Cause we all lose
When they feed on the souls of the innocent
Blood-drenched pavement
Keep on moving though the waters stay raging

In some other thread an Israeli was threatening to dry rivers of a neighbour country, if they do not do as Israel says....here is the answer God himself has given the appropriate response. Think before you speak and feel how it feels ...

Your feelings and aspirations are highly appreciable. May the Almighty hastens the era prophesied by the Prophet Isaiah. But today's reality is that extremists in your country, in their apocalyptic zeal, are determined more than ever on demolishing the Islamic Shrine on the temple mount and rebuilding the third Beit HaMiqdash. And when that happens, we know what would follow i.e. the prophesy of Zechariah 14:14 would definitely come true. So for the peace in the region, it is imperative to control the extremist on both sides, but more so on the Jewish end, as they have the power and unrelenting zeal to bring the Armageddon much sooner than later. Peace.

.
They should speed up the arrival of their messiah, aka anti Christ, aka Dajjal. He will bring plenty of rain.
