Riding on India's newly openned first high speed train

Not even semi high speed., the first emu based intercity train.
Similar Indian built trains are running as local trains in all the metros for decades.
Basically no seperate locomotive,, every 2nd coach is having torque motors underslung.
The aesthetics have been upgraded.

It is made to look like a high speed train though T-18 is a semi high speed train at max speed of 160 km/hr...looks good though, more of cosmetics than it is about engineering. The interior ergonomics is good.

It's a 8 hr journey and us lazy Indians don't like to sit in trains longer then 5 hours. We prefer to lie down.
Max speed is 135 km per hour. Faster Indian trains run at 160. Track issues not train issues.
Though if flying to the us or Canada, we won't complain about the 16 hr flight.

Yes right, it is more about the psyche and how local things are not give respect. Also a plane seat is much more comfortable with controls at the finger tips, LCD screens and other perks, air travel has less friction, vibration and noise I reckon...

And more than that it is about the perception(sab chalta hai). They can sit for 8 hrs straight say in Canada and Europe in trains...

Its just an EMU. We are capable of manufacturing trains upto 200Kmph. But Indian tracks and infrastructure can't support such trains. So speeds are limited.

Already in 2 months, people have broken 12 window panes by throwing stones.
Some parts of India seriously need a plague.

How many ICF, train-18 in operations, think there are not more than 4 trains...

No, if it crosses 180 kmph, it is semi high speed.

No it is a lot about engineering. Indian trains do not run fast not because the engine is week but because tracks do not permit it. Even the trial of Telgo also failed in India because of track. This train with Independent wheel with low weight body and many other tweaks give it a capability to run at 180 KMPH even on Indian tracks without Modification which is a big deal. It proves the stuff of train. Cosmetic changes is a secondary part of Improvements.

One is running. 2nd is ready but can't be run until elections are over due to code of conduct. Our election rules are truly stupid. How will running a new train influence voters ? This train took 18 months to build. Not as if its been announced now.

Engineering encompasses everything..it is not about engine(??), tracks, trains, signals, manufacturing, electrical and electronics...lots of thing.

Max speed attained is not the normal run speed, trial run can achieve higher speed not practical daily...

I know. Its max speed on this stretch is 130 though its been running at 135. Reaches mid stations ahead of time sometimes.
Imagine if the tracks were improved and train was running at 180 kmph,instead of 130, it would shave off another 2.5 to 3 hrs of the total time.

This train will run through our existing railway infrastructure, high speed trains needs an overhaul of the whole system.
