Doner and Gyros - Turkish meaty wraps perfect for Iftar or Suhoor...not too filling yet lots of protein.

Could Paan actually be a food? You can get one from a local stall however.

This thread is like a breath of fresh air from all the incessant flamewars in this subforum.

Kudos to you @Bilal9

Do they have anything labelled as shawarma anywhere in BD? A few of us were discussing the overlap between doner and shawarma...it seems to be mostly semantics for the most part.

I guess you eat it, so its technically a food.

I wouldn't call it a meal tho.

Thank You :-).

I've sworn off flame-wars some time ago. It's pointless...:-)

The trio of Burger, Shawarma wraps (rolls) and Pizza were the first fast foods in Dhaka to become popularized around the late seventies in a few joints, kind of like 'Nirula's' in Delhi.

Over the years it has fallen off the 'new trend' bandwagon here to be honest. There are still quite a few places (at least fifteen to twenty) around town which serve it exclusively, though. Yes Gyros and Shawarma are more or less the same as it is served in Dhaka. Gyros wraps tend to be beef and goat, Shawarma rolls are mostly chicken with a healthy helping of vegetables and sour cream...

This is a popular local place.

Bangladesh version of 'Cake Boss'... Punizz Kitchen, some of their confection creations....looks like fondant use is quite common now for excellence in cake sculpting.
