Report: Saudi Arabia Still Seeking Nuclear Weapons Capability

Nuclear may be deterrence, but good enough to annihilate humanity.

I am afraid that KSA becoming a nuclear armed state or not won't change anything in this regard.

Post 26 says it all, really.

"It is just a question of time before we get it. Of course being one of the most influential countries in the world, a G20 member state, the current flag-bearer of the Arab world (500 million people) and largest Arab economy and most important Arab country (currently), one of the largest countries in the world geographically, the custodian of the two most sacred cities on the planet and the heir of some of the largest empires to date (Rashidun, Umayyad, Abbasid, Fatimid etc.) it is only a natural development.

Also considering our scientific rise (top 30 and soon top 20) and future economic position (14 largest economy in the world by 2050 as per most respected economic reports), a growing population and possibly the driving force behind further GCC integration and being in the neighborhood we are, of course this should be our goal.

We already have 100's of physicists and 100's of people studying nuclear engineering home and abroad. As well as having signed several nuclear deals with almost every nuclear power of note. In fact our nuclear energy ambitions are second to none in the Muslim world as per the Saudi Vision 2030.

When two Arab countries such as Libya and Iraq were on course to acquire nuclear weapons decades ago, nothing stops KSA from acquiring them in a decade or two. Much sooner if such a policy would be implemented aggressively. Funds are not a problem nor human capital. At most political factors could damage such a "project" but once status as a nuclear threshold state has been achieved, the goal has been accomplished."

Obviously the process started a long time ago. This article only tells half of the truth.

Tons of information pointing to that being the case.

@The SC

People are naive believing otherwise. I wonder who founded Pakistan's nuclear program while we are at it? KSA being notorious secretive explains a lot. There were/are even strong rumors of KSA being involved in Libya's and Iraq's programs and that was decades ago as well. Add to that the Chinese connection in the 1980's and recent developments (a joint project developing submarines - possibly nuclear submarines) and it does not take a genius to figure out what is possibly/likely going on. I would not be very surprised if things are not as they are told.
