Reinventing the Nation: Made in China 2025

Perhaps you mean quite some time ago? Let's look at what has already become:

In 2015 China exports was $2.284 trillion, 57% electro-mechanical, followed by electronics and others, labour-intensive has dropped to below 20%. As per UN Comtrade, China is the largest exporter of
high-tech products, far exceeding any nation, even more than US-Japan-Germany-combined.

As per WIPO 2015 Edition, China already tops the world in patent filings, both as origin and as filing destination.

The manufacturing sector is increasing automated, operational stock of industrial robots (China Mainland) is expected to surpass 300,000 units (not including 55,00 units in Taiwan) overtaking Japan to become the world's largest by this year end.

Thank you sir for your posts. i learned a lot from your posts of things i never knew.

Ningbo becomes first pilot city to implement Made in China 2025

Ningbo, a manufacturing powerhouse in southeastern Zhejiang province, became the first pilot city in China to implement Made in China 2025, the high-end manufacturing drive.

The move came as China's top industry regulator warned that enterprises and provinces need to refrain from rash action when stepping up efforts to advance the use of cutting-edge technology in factories and plants.

Xin Guobin, the vice-minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said it has somehow become a tradition in China that enterprises always rush headlong into action whenever enacting initiatives of national importance.

"We must guard against this trend when it comes to the Made in China 2025 drive," Xin said, "because it will affect our capability to upgrade manufacturing power and boost the quality of industrial products."

According to him, each province should base its own unique edge and current development status to implement the plan, rather than involving all industries as their priorities.

To prevent the trend, China picked Ningbo, which has good industrial foundations, as the pilot city to test what is the best way to promote smart manufacturing.

Tang Yijun, acting mayer of Ningbo, said the city will focus on smart equipment, hardware, services and self-driving systems to transform its current industrial structure.

In 2015, the industrial output of Ningbo reached 1,670 billion yuan, with strength in cars, petrochemicals, home appliances, clothing and other industries.

It is the country's largest processing base for refined oil products and houses the factories of leading car manufacturers Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co and Shanghai Volkswagen.

Xin said the central government will give enough effort to help Ningbo achieve its industrial transformation.

They need an high-tech manufacturing heartland in East China, Ningbo and Hangzhou are best choices when Shanghai has no interests in high-tech manufacuring.

This is a very sensible approach. Each city cannot be a jack of all trades, hence it makes sense to capitalize on their respective strengths.

I wonder what the other cities will be specializing in or focusing on?

Ningbo deserves it.

2014,Ningbo has made initial breakthroughs in the fields of industrialized application of the graphene. Based on the platform developed by Ningbo Institute of Material & Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science, Ningbo Morsh Technology Co. Ltd. has developed a variety of graphene products to be used in different application fields. Last year, the world's first graphene production line with an annual output of 300 tons of graphene products was completed in Ningbo, and breakthroughs have since been made on the application in such fields as the high-capacity lithium-ion batteries and the high-performance iron phosphate lithium batteries

What a beautiful high-tech development zone in Ningbo!

What a beautiful high-tech development zone in Ningbo!
yes, it‘s built on a river network, eastern city of ningbo.

Ningbo is famous for its cuisine. :partay:
Ningbo has many delicious food, just for example,
sea food noodle:

sweet soup balls:tangyuan

mimantou:Rice yeasted steamed bread

in order to keep the natural flavou of sea food, usuall methods to cook the sea food is steaming and poaching,
however, when cooking fresh water fish, we will add vegetables or bean products, and other seasons.

By moving labour intensive manufacturing to friendly countries...and moving up the value chain the Chinese company can maintain a positive influence on the entire supply chain of the product life cycle.

OBOR is all about this win-win paradigm. First stop CPEC. We will soon see Chinese manufacturing giants setting up shop there to help boost the economic development in Pak.

I love the cousine... hopefully this remains the same.

Except that is not happening.

Vietnam is where most of the low-cost manufacturing is going, not Pakistan.

Vietnam's textile exports are growing at 15-20%, while Pakistan is either stagnant, or declining.

You overestimate the influence that China's government have on these factories.

They might have some, but not enough to overcome all the challenges and disadvantages that Pakistan faces.

Are you trolling Shanghai bro? Just kidding, you are quite right indeed, we will largely remain a financial center, an international shipping/logistics hub. Ningbo is a well-developed city, has solid industrial foundation as @yusheng has introduced, it's an ideal city as pilot for "Made in China 2025".

Though high-tech manufacturing is a minor part of our economy, we do have some like COMAC, an aerospace supply chain, SMIC (Semiconductor), a military complex building naval equipment, ZMPC (which provides 70% port equipment in global market), Baoshan Steel (advanced materials) and several high-tech or "smart manufacturing" zones, etc.

Shanghai to build Lingang as smart manufacturing hub

Thanks! I do see a trend that manufacturers from China Mainland as well as from Taiwan are beginning to setup bases in India, especially in consumer electronics. I believe biopharma, medical products, are also worth exploring.

Thank you sir for your posts. i learned a lot from your posts of things i never knew.

You are welcome bro. If you need any further info about national (or global) industrials, financials or geo-economics, feel free to contact me.
