Chinese Smartphone Manufacturer, Huawei has witnessed a Tremendous Increase in 4G market share in Pakistan 2018. With around 130 million smartphone devices sold last year, Huawei has certainly taken a stride in the smartphone market. Previously Pakistani Market was captured by Samsung but with time Pakistanis interest in Samsung devices faded off as they got the smartphones with the same specifications at cost effective prices. This resulted in shrinking Samsung Sales in Pakistan.

Samsung Sales in Pakistan decreases Rapidly
According to our Market insights team, the market share of 4G compatible Samsung devices was 32.1 % in January 2018 and just in one month, in February 2018, the market share of Samsung decreased to 31.3 %. After many ups and downs, the market share of Samsung in the month of June 2018 is further decreased to 29.7%.

When it comes to global analysis of market share, South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd estimated earnings grew at the slowest pace in more than a year in the second quarter of 2018.

Here’s why People have lost interest in Samsung Smartphones:
  • Expensive device
Samsung Smartphones are usually expensive as the brand has made a name in the market and is counted in influential old brands. Most of the people in Pakistan cannot afford such expensive devices so they refrain to buy it.

  • Availability Many choices for same features:
Initially, when the smartphone market flourished in Pakistan, Samsung and Apple were two names that were prominent. As no options were available at that time people had to buy any of these devices. Now other brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, Qmobile, Oppos are offering devices with the same features and Samsung. Even these brands offer the same features at cost-effective prices. NowBrands like Huawei, Xiaomi are beating the budget segment of 4g smartphones with low prices and same or even better specs. People are looking for phones that offer the best value for their money.

  • Ever Increasing Competition with Huawei
Samsung is facing increasing competition from Huawei, who has made no secret of its plans to become the number one smartphone manufacturer worldwide. Huawei in no time has made its named and has won many hearts.

  • Chinese smartphone giants
Chinese smartphone makers like Huawei, Xiaomi, and OPPO continue to eat into its sales. The phones that these companies produce are often far less than the cost of Samsung’s flagships while providing similar build quality and software experience.

  • Samsung Note 7 battery explosion & Note 9 light leakage
From last 2 years, Samsung is going through bad times. Initially, the battery of flagship Note 7 exploded which revealed that the device had some issue. The company had to recall all devices back to fix the issue. However when the people were provided with new devices, even they caught fire, sinking Samsung’s name. August 2017 was the most difficult time of Samsung when they were accused of selling phones with exploding and draining batteries.

Samsung has launched Note 9 this month and it has a light leakage problem. Due to these major errors in a flagship device, people have lost their interest in it and have shifted towards other brands.

The scandal of Samsung VC:

In August the hair, Lee Jae-young was sentenced to five years in prison on bribery charges. Lee faced longest-ever jail imprisonment in South Korean history, being a vice president of a tech company. This also brought a bad image on Samsung and this was also a minor reason why people refrained from buying Samsung mobiles.

Verdict:
No doubt, Samsung market share is shrinking in Pakistan. However, after all this, Samsung is still at an advantage being the world’s largest chipmaker by revenue, ousting Intel from its 25-year reign as the industry’s foremost supplier of semiconductors. At $69 billion in revenue from its semiconductor business in 2017, Samsung easily bested Intel’s record annual sales of $63 billion.

. . . .
I think its the money value competition. If we Divide Smart phone market in Segments of Prices of 10k. I think smartphone market starts from 15k(phones below 15k is a category of its own and have always been territory of chinese phones since dawn of Qmobile)
The first category of 15k to 25k makes the bulk of market share and thats where samsung really struggles and Brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo literally murder samsung offerings for almost a year or so. Full metal Unibody, Notches, Super slick super fast smartphones are offered by these vendors. Beyond 25k i think samsung offering is competitive enough.

.
Buy Nokia. They have the toughest hardware.

. .
* In Pakistan.
Also in foreign markets Huawei is stealing Samsung, s show :D

Yes but You can still find a lot of J series phones with people that still believe samsung branded phones are better then Chinese brands just because the stamp of samsung and their are pretty lot of these people in Pakistan. But for below 25k Samsung is totally murdered. Honor Cs from the previous year and now Honor 7 series and Y series from huawei and Redmi Notes from xiaomi and Oppo Offerings are total samsung killer even loyalist Samsung users dont buy samsung below 25k except for ignorant ones

I was a Samsung user but very happy with Huawei for the last 2 years or so. Huawei is setting up plants in Pakistan so cost of their phones will get further low. Also this new Govt has just imposed further tariffs on imported mobiles so Samsung phone will get further expensive.

Huawei phones are hardly anything to cheer about. There quality is as pathetic as it can be. I havent used their high end phones like mate serious but used their budget phones such as Y-5 II which was sent thrice to repair including board change, than it developed power key issue before i finally threw it away. Before that Ascend G510 and G610. One had touch issues while the 610 plastic developed cracking sounds.
Xiaomi on the other hand i used note 4, it was a good phone but too had a problem. The LCD had dead pixels in it. Even though i replaced my set once, but the 2nd unit i got developed the same dead pixels within few months of use. Other than that phone was fine.

new samsung phones are crap. and unjustly expensive

plus, new nokia 6 and 8 series at less than half the price is as good as any flagship samsung

.
Samsung phones are relatively expensive while offering lower specs compared to phones from other companies at same price. They also have a lower operating life.

I am using xiomi A 1.Another sibling is using 1 plus 3 t. I found both better than the Samsung phones in same price range.

.
On second Xiaomi. Both were above top iPhone and galaxy spec phones at that time. Old Xiamo still going strong whilst two new Samsung's dead in last three years.

Don't you guys have Honor series or the P20 series in Pakistan? Those are really good. Impressive speed, buttery smooth UI, high levels of customization options. In fact, their mid-range phones are actually better than other expensive options.
