Beautiful simple old days. Less pollution, clean roads way less population ,double decker buses and tension free life.
I grew up and spent most of my life in Rawalpindi , Islamabad areas know these twin cities quite good but I had a hard time identifying some places . Too much has changed .
Rawalpindi and Islamabad residents please check in .

Hi,

Old Pindiites would remember Raja Bazar and a carpet store ISMAT DARRI HOUSE---which later changeed to Punjab Darri house---in the early to mid 70's.

My uncle 'the physicist' went to Raja Bazar one day---. Driving by he saw the sign Ismat Darri House---.

he pulled over and my aunt realized what was about to happen.

He walks into the store---asks for the owner---who is there---asks about the name---the owner says the name is for his wife---my uncle says---" Bhai Sahib aap Ismat Darri ka matlab smajhtay hein ".

My aunt says the old man's was shocked his jaw dropped and hit the floor---never dawned on him what it meant---.

A few days later the store name was changed to Punjab Darri House---.

Allah bless my uncle's soul---.

He was just like me as I am now---and I was just like you guys are towards me---arrogant ignorant disrespectful arguing without substance arguing without any knowledge---. This guy a PhD in nuc physics designed 8 nuc reactor design for a southern US state and I an illiterate 15 years old---clashing with him---. I cannot forgive myself for that---even if I was not an adult.

Though I wasn't even born when this video was shot. The church which is opposite to the GHQ looks nice. Saddar is looking a lot calm and less congested than what is has become today. Though much hasn't really changed I mean the style still remains the same. The progress has been really slow and things were much better back then.

Certainly, ISB is unrecognizable with those lush green lanes. CDA should certainly stop creating more sectors in ISB and should start planting more trees to save the beauty of CDA.

It's means raping a woman or sexually harassing her.

Yes I recognized that old church in a heartbeat. And that area where old varan bus stop and rahat cafe is . I still visit that area to eat my favorite mutton dish from rahat cafe.
And I also recognized that old British era railway bridge near korang naala . The area around it is complete empty but these days it's filled with PWD,police town and other housing societies.
Damn too much change.

Balaatkar is a hindi word used in India, where this is a national sports these days.

Ismat means izzat in Urdu. So that stupid shop owner named the shop after that name without thinking what the meaning would become

Wow I didn't know that. Guess I need to work more on my Urdu. I only took Urdu private tutoring for two years from the age of 9 to 11. Mostly learned the rest from absorbing what I could whenever I interacted with the Urdu speaking community in the UK.

Once every two weeks, I try to learn a new word and then use it for like 3 months straight in any situation I can find LoL [emoji23].

lol... I love Rawalpindi .. specially Cantt area night life ... Pindi club .... I think that was best cantt at one point.
That old Rawalpindi area , specially the can't area, westridge area looks like we are living in some British residential area because that area was designed by the British. Spacious roads, lawns , fountains ,old style bungalows . Even posh areas of Islamabad cannot compete with the beauty of that area.
