I heard lots of stories in childhood about Sultana daku from my par-nani, she is still alive, would be around 91 right now.

There is a place in forests around Dehradun called Robber's Cave. It is now a picnic spot. Back in the days it used to be one of the hiding places for Sultana and his gang.

Wow!! That place looks as a perfect hide out for dacoits. I came to know about Sultana in Jim Corbett's autobiography. He was a master of disguise, a magnanimous figure with a lot of romantic mysticism attached with his personality. Corbett's account on hunting him down is a fantastic read.

23 April 1930: Qissa Khwani massacre in #Peshawar when British troops opened fire on native protesters.

It was one of the defining moments in the non-violent struggle of the Indian independence movement. It was the first major confrontation between British troops and non-violent demonstrators in the peaceful city — The exact number of deaths remains controversial — several hundred were killed, with many more wounded.

Beautiful pics. Thanks to OP. Great to see you value your heritage.

@anant_s don't spoil it mate by posting your actor-actress vintage pics.Thanks.
Nice thread @DRAY, Shows that Indian heritage includes a very important aspect of it's colonial heritage. As it does for most of the region

Could be more worthy if pics of Bollywood or recent Cricketers are avoided.. Takes the gloss away

When I started this thread, my intention was to post photos from India that are either rare, or old, or interesting, or thought provoking, vintage pics of actors-actresses or cricketers fall under the "Interesting" category!! :)
