The government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had both suggested Bhagwandas’ name for the vacant post.

However, given that the government had decided to include political parties regarding the appointment of the CEC, sources suggested that political parties considered Bhagwandas as unfeasible given his constitutional bar.

I like Lalkrishna Advani's suggestion about CEC appointment in India .. which has not been implemented unfortunately.
(he suggested a collegium consisting PM, chief justice, law minister, and leader of opposition in both houses should decide the apppointment)
