Islamabad: Feb 10, 2014

Former Pakistan captain and renowned commentator Ramiz Raja has reportedly called the Pakistan Cricket Board‘s(PCB) decision to abstain from voting on the new reforms presented by the executive board in the crucial International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting as a show of ‘false bravado’.

Raja said that the PCB should have dealt with the ICC reform proposals wisely and taken a pragmatic approach to the stance adopted by the ‘Big Three’, India, Australia and England.

According to the Express Tribune, he said that the PCB decided to take a stand which in principle might have seemed the right thing to abide by, but their decision should also have been grounded in reality and not driven by emotions.

He further said that despite the PCB not getting the deal in their favour, all was not yet lost and a calculated and methodical approach could somewhat help redeem the situation.

What would we have got after supporting that farce proposal?

Nothing but promises. At least you stood for principles. That matters.

It is your opinion.
why did not pcb vote againt the motion, when they publicly declared to oppose it? In my opinion, standing for your principle means taking it to logical conclusion unless situation changes.

True. PCB played its cards wisely. But not voting for the support of this proposal itself is equal to standing on principles. Particularly when nearly all the nations have supported it.

we are alone in ICC now..jaise pehle bara ICC hum se posh kar sare decsion karti thi

Opposition of wrong thing is right no matter what is the outcome of opposition,,This proposal dont seem fair and i am not talking about funds distribution but others things in there which are against the concept of fairness. Ramiz jaise log ke lein ka humari chahey maar loo bus paise de doo humhein and that will be a good deal

Sri Lanka and Pakistan were the only nations to oppose this. This means the end of Cricket as a gentlemen's game. Now we'll see Cricket being commercialized and tournaments like IPL will gain more popularity than nation vs nation games.

You have Sri Lanka, we're in the same boat :P

Sounds like PCB was more worried about popular opinion back home rather than what's good for Pakistani cricket. They could have reached some sort of compromise with big three & atleast got away with something instead of going back with empty pride.
