Rambo Gurkha in solo Taliban blitz

Gees, i guess the Americans should fire all their soldiers and start hiring the superhuman ghurkas in their army and this way they will defeat all the countries in the world (Russia and China as well).

You know as well as I do unlike 300 years back , wars are not solely won by superior morale and characteristics , equipment plays a huge role .....

and seeing the vast amounts of territory the British Indian army managed to conquer and hold on for so long .....I wouldn't be surprised if they did one day....;)

Ethnicity is not the point, which is why I mention the Romans. Their legions were composed of people of all ethnicities, from nubians (africans) to thracians (baltic) to gallics. But as soon as they join the legions and complete their service they were seen as completely roman where as the British just used the Gurkhas by the creation of the myth of martial races (in other words instrument of ethnic division and control)

Most of the relevant points seem to have been already covered , but just one addition.....

according to the British officers(current and former ) who served alongside the Gurkhas , as well as independent analysts ....the Gurkha pysch is based on loyalty and professionalism . They dont fight to defend their lands like other warrior clans do all around the world. Nepal has never been colonized anyways .....

To a Gurkha , soldiering in considered as a profession like any other and a way of preserving their martial traditions ,and skills like tracking etc. And this is reflected in the statement the Prime minister of Nepal once made when Britain sought permission to increase recruiting during the Second world war.....

"does a friend ever abandon a friend in need ? "

In All their plaques, war memorials and remembrances amongst those they served with, even officially according to the Tri-Partite plan between India-U.K -Nepal .......
Gurkhas are never considered as mercenaries .

Isn't it convenient that one of the values the British ascribe to a colonial population is the adherence to rules and loyalty. Nice and docile, die when you're told, for very people who dominated and raped your people.

What good is bravery when it stems out of stupidity?

Please remember that we Gurkhas have never been colonized by the British or by any other force . By your logic everyone of us is stupid for isn't everyone of us docile and loyal to someone or the other be it to our boss or our wife . Fighting has been one of our chief professions and we will even give our life if that means our job is done. By your repeated reference to Britsh colonial slave mentality you not only disrespect me but to countless other brave Gurkha soldiers who have given up their lives for their army.

And I repeat bravery is not something which can be trademarked to a particular race. The bravest are as much prone to cowardice as the chickenhearted to bravery.

It is an individual act of bravery and hence applause worthy. Gurkhas are tough as nails - most people emerging from the harshest of terrain seem to be.

These are the same guys that beheaded that insurgent a while back right ?

Can you throw light on the incidents ?? :what: Would like to know more.

Also another important thing is Maratha Regiments are not entirely composed of Marathas themselves...I heard from my friend in the Army that Maratha Regiments are one of the most diverse regiments..ie., jawans from all parts of the country will be in that in contrats to some regiments like Gorkha,Sikh regs which are relatively more homogenous.

They didn't give us much of a challenge, they were very keen on shelling the Chakothi Bazaar, a strictly civilian area, they fired at civilian vehicles, it was stuff like that did not reflect well on their professionality. Alot of other stuff but I feel I cannot disclose that on a public forum.

The Sikhs and Gurkhas were fierce fighters they fought with intensity, it was enjoyable. Same cannot be said about the MLI units. It's not something you can really put into words, it's what you feel when you are in the fight.

india had political and diplomatic advantage
in combat...when the combat is actually happening...the height proves to be the only advantage...or do you say that there was no fighting?or that you did not have the height advantage?
while our leadership backed out, India also used its air force
and you 3 of them down with your martial prowess?it was used against an enemy expecting such an attack and ready for it.Do you like going to war with half measures?it is stupid if you do so.
along with 35,000 troops while fighting only 5,000 Pakistani Paramilitary soldiers,
so it should have been more prudent had we brought out our 5000 against your 5000 and called you guys out from your hidden posts for a one-on-one mano-e-mano right?
your post defies logic.Any country would use as much of it's trained men as it can once threatened with armed aggression.
besides that we lost more troops while withdrawing and not during the actual combat.
ans that is precisely why kargil was such a misadventure for you.

how many marathas do you need to form an opinion of an entire culture?Generalization is a necessary evil.More often implemented wrongly...
The same people brought a flourishing empire down when it was only swords and spears to fight with and not long ranged artilleries.
