Home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday raised the issue of Chinese construction in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in his talks with the Chinese government.

“We raised this issue and all other important issues with Chinese leaders,” Singh told Indian journalists after meeting Meng Jianzhu, head of Commission for Political and Legal Affairs in the central committee of Communist Party of China (CPC). “There was lot (of) discussion on terrorism,” Singh added.

India discussed cross border terrorism from Pakistan, besides the Afghan situation, and the two leaders agreed to set up a dedicated communication channel between Beijing and New Delhi to boost security cooperation.

China is expanding its presence in Pakistan by building an 800-km-long road connecting Karakorum Pass on the border to Gwadar Port and constructing several other projects, including power plants. The road passes through pak kashmir and several terrorism affected parts of Pakistan. Analysts believe the project, if successful, would help China develop political linkages with different facets of political leadership in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Meng said the two countries should enhance efforts to combat terrorism and fight transnational crimes. “China and India should also coordinate to improve border entry and exit administration to facilitate people’s travel and promote stability in the region,” Meng was quoted by the state-run Xinhua news agency as having said.

Singh said Chinese leaders, including premier Li Keqiang, whom he met on Thursday, were very enthusiastic about developing close relationship with India on regular exchanges and coordination in security and terrorism related issues. “I told them we should have fruitful dialogue, not dialogue for dialogue’s sake,” Singh said.

Indian ambassador to China Ashok Kanth said the discussions covered the entire spectrum of relationship on the security front. But some of the issues were too delicate to be discussed publicly, he said.

This is the first time in a decade that an Indian home minister is visiting China since the last visit by Shivraj Patil, then home minister, in 2005. Singh’s visit comes in the backdrop of major terrorist incidents like the Paris attack, raising fears in all countries, including India and China, about the strident growth of terror.

Singh would travel to the eastern metropolis of Shanghai on Saturday where he would meet the top CPC and security officials and address a meeting of the Indian Association of Shanghai.

India is making a fool out of itself. If India wants to solve the problem, let them talk to us. What can China do in this. After pushing away our friendly approach now these jokers go to China.
