Rail tracks should have been improved rather than spending money on Bullet Train, says Mayawati

Lucknow, Nov 21: The Kanpur train tragedy which took away the lives of 142 and left more than 200 injured moved the nation into tears and forced the Railway ministry to ponder over the safety of rail tracks. Today, the BSP chief Mayawati lashed out heavily at Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the train mishap and criticised his policies.

Mayawati clearly stated that not the Railway Minister but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his rich policies are totally responsible for this horrifying incident . “Instead of spending millions on Bullet train , had the money been put into the improvement of rail tracks then this incident wouldn’t have taken place,” the BSP chief said.

She also claimed that BJP is a party of rich and Narendra Modi’s smile deepens when the rich of the nation is happy.

Yesterday too the BSP chief took a jibe at Narendra Modi and cursed his Agra rally. She had said that, it would have given relief to the people had PM Modi visited the site of rail mishap rather than addressing a rally for votes.

“ Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s good days are over and bad days will be coming soon,” the BSP chief added.

pakistan had upgraded some and is upgrading all under cpec. speed will increase and accidents are decreased.
Yep.
Upgrading projects are very important.
There were 7 major national upgrading projects in China before inauguration of the first real HSR.
Now, we have zero railway crossings of all the trunk corridors.

A 120km/h railway with modern equipments is far more superior than a 160km/h railway with outdated systems.
Speed is not everything!

Indias train accidents per million kms travel is 0.12.
For uk it is 0.11 the best in eu.
Problem is the high number of densely packed passangers and number of passangers per train.
India has an average of 20 carriages per train , with an average occupancy of 60 per carriage.
So nearly 1200 passangers conservatively.
Also i believe the old design coaches also result in jack knifing at high speeds resulting in more deaths.
In many countries, railway accidents include out-of-train accidents, such as pedestrian crashed by train.
If such cases are included, Mumbai alone has several thousand per year, in Europe several thousand in total.
Denial mode does not really help a country tackle a critical issue.

In Indians mind, reality does not exist and they are superpower

Actually if you look at the fatality really caused by train accidents INSIDE a train in 2016, the number is nearly ZERO in East Asia, several dozens in Europe, much higher in Africa. Such railway accidents matter, and really make people panic, as opposed to those railway crossing accidents. In Chinese we call them "路内事故“, intra-railway accidents. For those killed at crossings, well, they should be blamed themselves mostly.

In most cases, I ignore those statistics about railway accident fatality, most of them have nothing to do with Real railway accidents, i.e., derailment because of overspeed, track fault or natural disasters, collision of two trains because of signalling faults.

Absolutely agree with you. I don't understand Indians' logic. You just can't figure out their way of thoughts lol....

Perhaps this idiotic lady does not realize that having bullet trains would mean improving existing rail tracks.

In fact improving the rail tracks is a prerequisite.

So, this dumb lady should stop talking nonsense and go back to building statues of herself, which is the only thing she is good at.

Many members here have lower level than this lady.
India plans to import Japanese bullet trains on new tracks laid by Japanese companies. That will never help those damn old railways built in the British era with outdated signal systems and tracks.

LOL...Few Phoren posters are dumber than this lady.

There are multiple faster railway systems that are being introduced. Many running on upgraded existing tracks and Japanese one on new track.

Please stop exposing the lack of knowledge here..

For many PDF Indians, HSR is never about improving transportation for millions, it is all about the bragging right.

This lady, I don't know who she is and why high-caste RSSers hate her so much, made quite some valid points from the railway technology perspective.

HSR and upgrading existing railways are two projects. Do they even know 300km/h HSRs from China/Japan/France/Germany use standard tracks while most Indian railways use broad-gauge tracks?

She is right about the priority of Indian railway. They need to invest tens of billions of dollars to fix the old system which is the number one transport menthod for millions of Indians especially those from the lower class. Upgrading tracks and replacing old coaches, building tunnels/bridges to replace railway crossings, heighten the platforms to reduce the gap....

If most of them have not gauged the severity of the problem, such deadly accident will just happen again and again.

Every time, just comment "R.I.P", does that phrase really help?
