Rafael heavy on F-16 of Pakistan, it can detect 40 targets simultaneously within 100 km radius

Pathetic headline. The RBE2’s detection and engagement capabilities were highlighted during the last Swiss Eval - it is a formidable system but nothing close to this claim.
Can you post any link of it? i would love to read it. thanks.

honestly its not all that its a pesa radar not an aesa, also look at why singapore rejected the rafale.

Tracking 40 targets is fine when you are using Rafale in a dedicated air intercept role with no AWACS involved. The force multipliers in service with the PAF can track many more than Rafale and can do that in a very dense EW/jamming environment.

Secondly, tracking is fine but then what about the firing solution? If we go by the initial article, even if F-16 tracks 20 targets, its doing it in a redundant mode along with the AWACS involved. Then the weapons on board are also a limitation in terms of how many targets of the tracked total can be engaged.

The good thing about Rafale is the self-protection suit and Meteor. That has value for strike roles and escort respectively and PAF will have to solution against it. The progress on JF-17 Blk 3 is very promising in this regard.

RBE2-AA is AESA and IAF ones have this radar. This is also the reason that JF-17 Blk 3 is AESA.
