Quaid E Azam Liberal or Secular ? | Dr Amir Liaquat | 25 Dec 2016

Here we go again.

I'm going to end this debate before it starts. If you are a Muslim, Allahs input in the Quran and the Prophets input in the hadiths should be what you use to decide how to govern Pakistan.

Quaid E Azam Liberal or Secular ? | Dr Amir Liaquat | 25 Dec 2016

I really admire the change in Amir Liaquat. Plus, BOL is one of the most patriot channels, and is kicking some serious ***.

Here we go again.

I'm going to end this debate before it starts. If you are a Muslim, Allahs input in the Quran and the Prophets input in the hadiths should be what you use to decide how to govern Pakistan.

Did you even bother watching the video?

I believe Jinnah's speech which some tried to censor was congreluted by political and religious fanatics of the time. However regardless of it all Qaid's Pakistan was always envisioned to be the Islamic Republic but with minorities getting equal rights. Meaning although it was suppose to be a Muslim country, there was not suppose to be any kind of discrimination based on race, religion or colour. All citizens of Pakistan whether christians, muslims, sikhs or hindus for that matter were to be equal. Freedom for all under an Islamic umbrella.

We must not confuse liberal with secular.

Unfortunately the religious clerics and the political representatives have misused the formation of Pakistan to their own liking. It sad that even after 70 years we are still arguing over what or who Pakistan was made for.

I think you should listen to him before making a comment. He is really factual this time.

I was setting things straight for anyone who thought otherwise, before watching the video.

"We have lost it in the realm of Siyaset" - Dede Pasha, an Osmanli statesman

Rahmetli Jinnah won it in the realm of Siyaset. Don't know whether he was secularis or Islamist, liberal or conservative, but one thing is certain - he had ensured that another Ay-yildiz (hilal ve sitara) would be proudly waving in another last castle. Nur ichinde yatsin - may he sleep within Nur...

Our beloved secular "thinkers" who on one side deny existence of two nation theory claims to "own" Jinnah in order to justify their demand of secular state. Historical facts however prove otherwise. Except one Speech (which is not against teaching of Islam either), his dressing (he wore pent coat so he was secular), his love for dogs and eating of non hilal food long ago when he was working in England are the only arguments given by our secular friends to prove him to be one of their kind.
Rest they ignore all stuff he Said in his life time, actions he did in his entire life, motto he gave and what he lived for only because they prove him more a loyal Muslim than a secular figure ......
Ironic indeed

1) The Idea of Indian Muslim Nationalism, developed by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (and other Aligarians), that ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan, was inspired by political theories of John Locke, Thomas Paine, Milton etc. ... Orthodox Muslims vehemently opposed the Two Nation Theory and rejected the idea of Muslim Nationalism arguing that Islam and Nationalism were incompatible ..... Maudoodi described the idea of Muslim Nationalism to be as unlikely as Chaste Prostitute

So, Orthodox Muslims (not secularists) have always denied the Two Nation Theory ... Secular Muslims demanded a separate homeland for Indian Muslims as they believed that a Hindu Majority United India won't be secular (in practice) and there will be no religious freedom for minorities, esp. Muslims. ... That's why the Pakistan Movement was spearheaded by Liberal and Secular Muslims, and it was strongly opposed by Orthodox Muslims ...

2) As for Jinnah consuming alcohol, that was his personal choice and is not anyone else's concern. However, He didn't give up consuming alcohol till the very end of his life; even after the creation of Pakistan

Liaquat Ali Khan wrote a letter of resignation to Jinnah . “Personal & Confidential" Karachi 27.12.47

My dear Quaid-i-Azam,

My wife has related to me what you told her last night at your dinner. I am sorry to learn that she has incurred your displeasure for some unknown reason. She could not possibly have done anything to merit such strong criticism and condemnation as for you to say that she was impossible and that she was digging her own grave................

A memorandum was written which recorded the event. it was penned by Liaquat’s wife’s close English friend, Kay Miles: “This draft letter of Liaquat’s requires a little background note: The actual incident which gave rise to Mr. J’s remarks to Begum Sahiba was her non-acceptance of a glass of sherry (which she dislikes) when she sat near him at his birthday dinner party........

Jinah was a Muslim and proud of being a Muslim. Even before entering politics his actions proved of him being the proud Muslim. He initially just like Iqbal also thought that Hindus and Muslims can live together but they were disappointed after seeing actions of Hindus and specially there leaders. So there focus shifted towards getting separate state for Muslims where laws of Quran and Sunnah can be implemented. Jinah speeches from 1940 till his death not a single mention of secularism or Pakistani laws being secular but several mentions on Pakistani laws being based on Islam and Islamic principals and Quran and Sunnah even word shariat was used few times by Jinah.
