KARACHI, Pakistan, July 20 (Reuters) - Pakistan is to proceed with the sale via tender of a contract to manage Islamabad airport after consultations with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.
In March Pakistan had kicked off the outsourcing of operations at three major airports and the ministry said Islamabad airport was the first of these to be affected, as the country seeks to generate foreign exchange reserves for its ailing economy.

In a statement the ministry said it had been unanimously agreed for the outsourcing of operations at Islamabad airport to go ahead in order to improve service delivery in line with best industry practices.
Officials say Pakistan has been in talks with Qatar to jointly run the terminals at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore airports. The Qatar Investment Authority pledged to invest $3 billion in Pakistan after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Doha late last year.

First this generation left huge debts now it will empty out all assets. Good luck to the coming generation. They are screwed…

In general it is much better for a government to get out of owning and operating any business. The clash between shareholder interest (profit) and customer interest (votes) will always lead to bizarre leaders and results, It may work in the short term.

The irony is, again in general, better customer results 'should' lead to better shareowner resuts, over the long term. But that holy grail requires a quality of product that is shard to achieve on government salaries.

As expected, GHQ mafia selling up all strategic assets of Pakistan People. These vicious hyenas are eating this country alive. As long as these human flesh eating Hyenas exist, Pakistan will eventually die.

A country where millions of people died to create it, all has gone to waste !

but it’s another government controlling this governments assets. Pakistani government couldn’t handle it and Qatari government could.

Before they sell off state assets they break them down into poorly run institutions so you want the headache gone.

Keep the airport and sell off PIA. It is time.
That’s what they want m. They ruin a state asset so the people won’t complain when it gets sold

Very embarrassing that your nations entry points are controlled by another country

No, don't disturb someone when they're making a mistake.

Just sit back and watch the shit show.
Basically anyone that is in the next government will get the blame unless they have the authority to carry out serious reforms, in hopes of turning things around. If the sharifs are back in office or Bilawal, they will have to oversee $80 billion in debt repayments over the next 3 years for starters.

The younger generation of the Sharifs should be happy if they can get a break for 5 years, let memories fade, and let IK come back, carry out the hard reforms, become unpopular and open up the space for the sharifs to come back into office in 2028. It’s the older generations that probably can’t get past their egos and think strategically.

For PPP, a coalition government with PTI could strengthen their leftist credentials as the left side of the coalition government. Bilawal stays on as FM, hiked up his resume and carry’s out the national interests, as well as pushes for more redevelopment (finish the motorway, build out ML-1 first in Sindh, reindustrialize Karachi, in Sindh, due to the floods, as the economy try’s to pick back up.
