Qatar, facing a Saudi-led boycott, approved a landmark law with the potential to ultimately transform Gulf societies by granting permanent residency cards -- and new rights -- to some of the foreigners who dominate its population.

The move would be the first in the Gulf region, where the privileges of nationals have been zealously guarded and expatriates’ access to public services and property rights are sharply curtailed. Under the new law, cardholders will be treated like Qatari n ..

A joke if true. Should be limited to Arab nationals and a limited number of valuable and loyal expats.

Anyway Qatar's native population is 300.000

There are 500 million + Arabs worldwide.

So that makes Qataris represent 0.06% of the Arab population.

That tiny gas station and military base feeling the heat. Pathetic leadership. Maybe they should hire some Burmese to wipe their asses as well.

I guess that they need their weekly supply of toilet cleaners. This time on a more permanent basis. Well, good luck! I suggest naturalizing 2 million Wilayat al-Faqih drones and arming them to the teeth and make them storm the Emir's palace. Let's see how quick this so-called law will be repelled. I give it 5 minutes.

However, you are all the same at the end of the day. Remember the Syrian TV series making fun of Arabic countries of 500 million + and their unique unity, I have posted it for a reason lol I have no concern that you hurt each other on daily basis but when your misery reach my non-Arabic country, it gets on my nerves.

May Allah give you people some hedayeh.

I don't care what irrelevant foreigners blabber about or your problems. Zero. You should follow what you preach.

Qatar is a tiny gas station and military base home to 300.000 natives. As I said they represent 0.06% of all the Arabs worldwide. All I see here is a few obsessed non-Arabs blabbering about Arabs while Arabs never give them two thoughts. Something to ponder upon.

There are between 30-40 MILLION people of Arab descent in Latin America alone. That's half of Turkey's population. Almost as many as there are Turks (non-Kurds) in Turkey. You get it now?

Whatever moronic laws that the Al-Thani family (in desperation) want to enact without asking their own people is their lose or win. Likely lose.

Is that the reason, a handful of Arab's demand the shutter of Turkish base in GCC soil? That doesn't seem irrelevant :D

Does Turkey demand the shutter of the Incirlik Base that the same Qatar and KSA uses while we speak?

And why are you even mentioning some irrelevant base under the surveillance of Qatar (US and KSA too) that is home to less than 200 soldiers, when a 20.000 big US military base is located next door?

You do know that your Georgian Erdogan visited King Salman in KSA a few weeks ago and you probably also know his talk about KSA.

Anyway none of that changes the realities which is that tiny Qatar is and always will be at the mercy of KSA once/if the US leaves the Middle East.

The same Qatar which has been a part of ancient civilizations, empires, kingdoms, sultanates, emirates, sheikdoms, imamates originating from modern-day KSA or ruled from modern-day KSA for millennia (all of recorded history) during the pre-Islamic and Islamic era, until not very long ago. The same Qatar whose natives (95%) are from KSA originally, including the Al-Thani family that rules Qatar.

The same Al-Thanis that chased the Ottomans away from Qatar after a 15 year long nominal presence during the Battle of Al Wajbah.

Why should Turkey demand the shutter of it's own base? You don't make sense but I understand lol Saudi personnel is welcome as well as other's :)

I doubt that they are welcome seeing your and some of your friends anti-Arab behavior here.

BTW, I am not the one talking about KSA/GCC/Arab world being at war (LOL) or even at odds with Turkey. Your compatriots (a few of them at least) where the ones that were talking nonsense during a dispute between brothers and sisters. A local dispute that had nothing to do with any outsiders.

Anyway I don't care as all the current rulers time is on loan.

Would you want to be outnumbered by Afghans, Indians or whatever by a ratio of 10 in your own country? I know that Qataris represent 0.06% of the total Arab population of 500 million + worldwide and that Qatar as a country (the size of it) represent even less than 0.06% of the entire area of the Arab world (almost the size of Russia) but this is a wrong precedent.

Permanent residency let alone citizenship is not something that you give out as candy during a wedding.

Is it not about high time for tiny states like Qatar (that should have been part of KSA like that peninsula of Eastern Arabia was for millennia during pre-Islamic and Islamic times - until not that long ago in fact) to stop having silly fantasies of world domination and try to make their own 300.000 people do whatever is needed to be done rather than outsourcing? I understand that 300.000 people limit you a lot but then they have to conform to that fact or live with being outnumbered heavily by foreigners in their own country. Those same foreigners that will leave the second they no longer find Qatar useful.

Qataris are educated people today. Everyone, if needed to, can do physical labour. Tiny people by nature (Eskimos, Asians and many others) are a living proof of this. The great-grandparents of Qataris used to do that like anyone else in the world. They can easily do it again. It would be a healthy thing for them. They don't need hordes of foreigners from Nepal or elsewhere. Of course they need foreigners if they want to expand but this number can be limited if more locals would take such jobs.

You are probably looking at it from the perspective of the US. A country of migrants and founded by migrants. In that same country there are 3.7 million American Arabs. 13 times as many Arabs live in the US than in Qatar.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Americans

It would not surprise me if there were more Palestinian Americans in Michigan alone than all Qataris across the world. Certainly not many years ago there were more Saudi Arabian students in the US than Qataris worldwide, lol.

I have nothing against Qataris (they are basically Najdis with a new, fairly recent, nationality) but facts are facts.

If it's so tiny and irrelevant "gas station" as you say... why are your panties in a bunch about this then?

But I agree with you... this is a stupid law... bet you a billion Indians would be dreaming of becoming citizens just to get out of their hell hole...
